Overpaying £100 at a time

*waves* Hi Primula. Wow we're all popping out of the woodwork this week. It's great to catch up with everyone.
We got married almost three years ago, all went well thank you.
Considering some full time hours at work for the next few months, will be shattered but thinking of the moolah to be able to OP with. The hours are better for family life all round as well.0 -
I would like one of those savings pots. I would do the 52 week challenge backwards so you put less in as the time goes on towards xmas. I shudder at the thought of putting nearly £200 in december! I might make mine a 12 month challenge though £120, £110... I could probably afford that but would rather pay in on the mortgage. I do put £50 a month away at the mo for xmas/birthdays and mostly dont dip into that through the year for bdays anyway.
As for work hours, I keep thinking about doing more hours now my kids are in senior school, they walk home themselves so I could do an extra hour a day and be home for 4. I'm not sure if I would be better off as I get TCs.MFW 16 No 33

We don't get any TC's and haven't for a few years now, so any extra comes along, I grab it, as it's not worth not taking it now.
Money seems to be flowing freely OUT this month. I know we have made a good OP so it's not all bad and it's not dire straights or anything, but the balances are lower than I would like at this point in the month.
I check the larger balance online yesterday and it said £70,010 - arrgghh I know the daily interest has to go on which makes up the extra £135 I need to OP but it was looking so good there for a glimmering second.
Need a plan stan to create that extra £1350 -
Hi Yukkibear,
I've just read your diary from start to finish and it's really inspired me on my journey. I'm aiming for MF in December 2021 (I'll have just turned 50:eek:). Things have ground to a halt for me at the moment thanks to my tax bill at the end of January (my goodness, that stung!!!:rotfl:) so I've been licking my wounds a bit.
GG and Tilly have picked me up and dusted me off though so I'm ready to get going again, by clearing my CC debt. Your diary has given me a boost!
I'm off to subscribe!!
Good luck with your £100 challenge.

Thanks Thistle, great to read I inspired you.
£10 in today from a FB sale. I am desperately trying to declutter the house because it's overflowing at the mo, and I want it to look tidier. I am also being sucked in by right move again this week and doing sums to see if we could move before we pay off this mortgage. I would mean a big hike in mortgage, so still unsure and a lot to think about, but with changes at work, the mortgage application may look better sooner rather than later, so a battle going on in my head. I think we have a few months saving grace so the plan is to save / OP wherever we can to see what the next few months brings and then go from there I think.

Ooh!:think::think:
Big decisions being made in the yukkibear cave!!!
I'm having a testing time with my budgets. I'm sure I'm over thinking the whole process. That's what comes of having been an accountant before I embarked on my career helping people to lose weight.
I'm getting cashflows, accruals and debt repayments all muddled up.
Payments to credit cards are just a movement in funds - not an expense. That was incurred when the goods were bought.
I know this is why my spreadsheet refuses to balance but I can't figure it out. I have been at it since 2pm though so time to stop?:wall::wall::wall::wall:Mortgage at end 05/2007: £90200

Use a balancing item Thistle, works every time
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Thistle I hope you've managed to work it out. My Friday night /Saturday morning brain stands no chance especially when wine was involved.
I think today may be a speedy one by the state of my garden and the big gap through to next doors garden! Still we're a lot luckier than many so I won't complain. Going to attempt some decluttering again today and hopefully find some more junk to sell.0 -
£42 for the fence panels and the garden is secure again. That's not too bad. Really can't be bothered to cook dinner tonight and almost said yes when OH suggested going out, but somehow I have resisted and now he's cooking me wraps instead. I call that a result!0

Paid a small £15 off the mortgage yesterday, just to keep the momentum up. It came from selling unwanted items. I also listed a few bits of the bay if e over the weekend as it was free listing, don't expect to get a lot if anything for them but it's helping with the decluttering process that I'm attempting.0
