Started my post xmas clear out yesterday. Was proud of dd as she gave up some older toys for the new ones, so they can be passed on / sold etc.
I managed two e8ay listings (no bids yet) and a FB sale (£5).

I got a pot of dreams for xmas and it's so pretty that I don't want to have to break it when it's full, but then I thought that if I don't fill it to break it it's going to become an empty ornament gathering dust which isn't what I want from it, so I am going to fill it and enjoy looking at it over the time it'll take for me to fill it up and then get someone else to break it :rotfl:

I used up a bowl of left over veg last night in dinner from Boxing day which saved me using more veg and wasting food so I was pleased with myself for not just ignoring it and putting in the food bin.

    Small steps......

I've worked out my personal budget for next month based on what I think my wages will be. Hopefully we'll be paid tomorrow and I'll be able to work it out properly.

I know the bills account is going to be a bit eek for Jan but we'll have to be careful and that'll be that pesky food bill again.

I've been entering some competitions today mainly for treat items and items I can keep for presents. You've got to be in it to win it eh!

Oh a watcher on an E8ay item always makes me smile.

Payday arrived a day late but money has been transferred, childcare paid, and I have left myself with a personal budget which we'll see how we get on with.

Bills account is indeed eeek and will need topping up sadly, but it's something to work on through January to get it right for February.

Yesterday I decided to enter all the comps ending today. Wow there were a lot of them being the end of a month and the end of the year I guess. I only entered ones that we want / could make use of, but even so. It would be a nice treat to win something nice.

I got a parcel this morning. Socks! I know how to live. I bought new socks with a xmas voucher as most of mine have holes in them. It's funny isn't it, if I had been given said socks I'd have been a little miffed, yet I chose to buy them so it's OK.

    Happy New Year everyone.

Started the year off OK. Haven't really ventured far from the house due to the weather, so haven't used the car or been to the shops.

£6 in today from a FB sale which has helped the declutter, and also waiting on some freelance money that will hopefully arrive in the next few days.

It's only two days in but no alcohol consumed so far :rotfl:

Had another FB sale and another one due to pay me tomorrow. I'll bag the coins up and bank those when I get a full bag and they'll go towards an OP. I have around £50 to OP and hopefully will be able to top this up to £100 in the next week so I can send my first OP of the year

Have subscribed to thread. Not read it yet but was attracted by the title. Will have a read tomorrow.

Have now read through and think £100 chunks at a time is a good idea although wonder whether you might be better off just OPing when you get the money rather than putting it into a savings account until you get £100, although if your interest is calculated monthly it won't make a difference but it would if your interest is calculated daily - hope that makes sense!

some money landed this morning so sent £50 to the mortgage. Feels good to make the first OP of the year.

The accounts aren't looking too bad for the middle of the month, a little tight but still a tiny bit of wriggling room I hope.

I've been totting up the supermarket spends and will total it up on 20th when hubby gets paid. Then the aim for February will be to reduce that even if it's only by £1

Another idea which I use is Tilly Tidies (TTs) where you round down your bank account, no matter how little it is - any odd amount even if it's just 1p!

I made a TT yesterday of £3.49 - it's not much but it's a bit extra on top of the regular SO overpayments I make.

My son got me one of these for Christmas, I'm trying to do the 52 week challenge in it, but my sister shared with me her nifty trick with a hacksaw to "remove" the top without breaking the whole pot. She then glues the top back onto hers - she's had two trips to NY from re-using her pot this way!

:) Like your thread and your approach - I'm aiming for 2020 MF, around the same time as you, so I wish you well and will follow with interest!
