Here We Go Again - SSE Announce Price Increases

Nothing online at the moment but just been announced on BBC Breakfast. Apparently 8.2% increase on both G&E wef 15/11/13. As per usual, just in time for the time of year when people are using the most fuel and of course this will be followed by the rest of the them very shortly. What an industry Thatcher created. Do you think they take it in turns to be the first to announce these increases?

I find it hard to think they take it in turns, seeing as SP were first in 2010 and 2011, and SSE in 2012 and today .

I was being sarcastic but I guess that's hard to convey in the written word. How long before the usual suspects/industry shills blame this increase on Ed Milliband, i wonder? ;)

Edit: already happened in the 'other' thread. Incredible, really.

ITs 'funny' in a way, we are being fined for having a good summer for a change. Not enough usage means profits projections are down so they hike it when we have to use it. after milking it all winter, in the spring they will announce a 3% cut and expect us to be grateful.

As they say, you can't have your sunshine and heat it.

I love it when Energy companies put up their prices. Reminds me it's almost Christmas again _pale_

Typically this announcement comes the morning after I put the heating on for the first time this year.

SSE are of course the company that only a few months ago received a record £10.5 million fine from the 'regulator' for 'prolonged and extensive' miss-selling. I'm really surprised they've been the first to increase given the critical profile it gives them until the others duly fall in line. Thought they would want to lie low for a while. The day that the directors of these errant companies are held legally and financially responsible for regulator imposed fines will be the day that this industry starts to smarten itself up.

    • This is an incentive for us to use less energy and save the planet.
    • If a few old folks are killed off its all good as they are a drain on resources, and producers of greenhouse gases.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

Johnny Cash had a song about curry or rather the after effects.

  • He did indeed. It had a certain ring of truth to it as well as i can testify.
