Cooker

Good Evening

Can anyone help? I bought a new kitchen from a company called Howdens about 19 months ago.

The kitchen cooker came with a two year warranty, the cooker has broken I phoned Howdens to see about someone coming to repair the cooker, and was told I would need to provide the invoice.

I cannot find the invoice and Howdens have said there is nothing they can do for me as there is a unique number on the invoice that I would have to provide them with.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

In law they need proof of purchase. There's a complete difference between what the company tells the staff it needs , and what's needed in law. Speak to a manager. Not only that, as they fitted it, they'll no doubt remember you so that's the proof of purchase.

    Hi thanks for the reply,

They did not fit it I bought it from them then had people I knew fit the kitchen and all cooker as it worked out cheaper that way.

Howdens is B2B so consumer rights don't apply.

Will a credit card statement do?

when you say cooker, do you mean oven or hob?
what make is the oven/hob that is broken ?
    what is the actual problem?
it may be easier to fix yourself if you provide more details someone may be able to give you some advice, maybe even me.

It’s the oven, started off with a loud clicking noise coming from the fan area towards the back, sounded a bit like metal on metal, now the fan does not move.

The light and as far as I know it still heats up but the fan does nothing.

If there is a unique number on the invoice then the credit card statement will not do - did you buy this yourself as Howdens usually only deal with other companies, they dont sell direct to general public.

A friend got the kitchen for me as he was friends with the manager, unfortunately he has now moved to America. I paid on credit card that was in my name and the good delivered to my address.
  • Although Howdens do state that they are trade suppliers only, this isn't always the case.
About 7 years ago I had a kitchen fitted with units from MFI, and althoug they are no longer trading, Howdens do a range that is almost identical in colour and because of a few minor mishaps (one was a water leak and the other was a puppy who chewed one panel), I needed replacements.

My local Howdens is more than happy to sell to me and they are fully aware that I am not in the building or installation trade, and I have also seen other people getting served who I also know are not trade users.
