Jut to say thank you to everyone. I went to CPW last night and bought a new W810i unlocked for £99.99 just as gaming _Guy suggested. I had to buy sim with it with £10 credit, but didn't mind as they meant son has a working sim and some credit for his school trip this weekend.

Just an update. On a whim my OH phoned our contents insurers and asked whether we were covered for mobile phones..and we are. So we've had to pay an excess of £50 but the rest will be paid out for in the next two days by cheque.

I honestly didn't think that household insurance would cover phones..but apparently we have full personal items insurance.
