help phone stolen
My Sons school has just phoned to say that my son and another teenager have had their phones stolen so I need to report it stolen ASAP. However, I can't get through to 02, I'm sitting here holding on the line (an 0870 number) listening to apologies as to why they can't answer their customer services.
Arghhhhh
I've still got to get to the police as well but thought it best to get the phone blocked first..
I'm supposedly on the line to a special dedicated CS for stolen phones and I can't believe I'm sitting here listening to stupid advert music while someone is probably running up huge bills.

Sorry, I've got a question..I'm in a bit of a panic and can't think straight.
The phone is insured as it is brand new but there is a problem. The phone doesn't match the sim, so what do i do and what do I tell insurance people?
My son had some fancy SE which he liked so when we got the new contract he kept the old phone with the new sim and we sold the new phone. Now obviously I'll have to tell the insurance people exactly what has happened as I don't want them blocking the new phone, yet I don't suppose I am covered for the old phone.
Is it best just to get a new sim and forget about any insurance claim, and just fork out and buy a new phone myself for my son?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You should be o.k to get a new phone from the insurance, when you get through to O2 give them the phone number that has eben stolen and aslo the imei number of the phone that has been stolen, report it to the police who will give you a crime number, then call the insurance company and give them the crim reference number, o2 will send you a new sim card, and the insurance company will sort out the new phone.0 -
Probably worth checking the terms and conditions of the insurance... but interesting one as if its like most car insurance its usually the specific car and driver...ummm...0

If they ask why the sim was in that phone simply tell them the other phones battery was flat and your son didnt have tim to charge it as he was goiing to school and you like him to have a phone with him for emergancys0

Thank you.
I finally got to O2 where I disgraced myself by getting a bit upset..but chap was great said he totally understood how awful it was to have my son robbed in this way.
Am now in queue for police..at least this is a local number but I'm getting tried of being told that my call is important so please wait..
I'll talk to insurers after this call, but can't see that they will do anything if I'm honest and explain that the 'wrong' phone was stolen.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. o2 will have a record of the emi number of the new phone on their system if you are on contract. I lost out this way a few years ago.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I was silly with the phone really trying to save money. The new contract came with a flash new phone and I was reluctant to let son have it in case it got stolen or broken, so he got sort of talked into letting me sell the new one and using his 10 month old W810i instead. Now of course the brand new phone would have been insured, yet the old phone that was actually stolen, was not,, Do'h I could kick myself.
I don't usually bother with insurance but this was still in the 1st 3 months free time so I just let it run. Daft really though in that I would have been better off letting him keep the new phone and selling the old one but I just stopped thinking logically about it, so it's my own fault.
Next question..how much is a replacement W810i going to cost me
Oh yes, finally got hold of the police, another parent plus the school had already phoned so they are going to look into it a call me back and give me a crime number later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
