Can't access googlemail or market, forgotten password.

I have started using my old Samsung Galaxy II and I can no longer access my android market.

When I try, it asks me to sign into my google account, I can't remember my password, so I've tried re-setting my password on my google account on the laptop, but some of the questions ask for the last password I used and when I first accessed it etc.. I have no idea of the answers as I've had the account for a few years and hardly ever had to sign in.

All I want to do is be able to use my android market.. or even download Playstore on my phone again, but because of the google account/password I can't access it.

I've even tried deleting the google account, so that I can start again, but I have to sign in to do that.. :o

Please help as I feel I'm going round in cirlces :rotfl:

Start another account then. I'm not aware of any restriction that you may only have one.

    I don't know how to.:o

I can't get into googlemail on my phone without a password.. and I can't get into Apps with out googlemail

I've managed to get into my account on my laptop and added a different email address, but obviously this hasn't worked on my phone.

Have you added the new email address to your phone? If you can access the a/c on one device then it should be accessible on another, with the correct login info.
If you want to start a new account, then you just sign up again.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

When you originally set up your phone, as far as I know it will have asked for your googlemail or gmail address, and this is the one that it has as your primary gmail address and will try to use for google play.

The simplest (but most drastic) solution would be to set up a brand new gmail account and do a factory reset on your phone, then start again with the new gmail address. (But you need to back up anything you need to keep and you will probably lose any apps you have already bought - I'm not an expert so maybe there is a less extreme way of changing your primary address?)

    Hi ...thanks for your replies..

I just seem to be going round in circles.. I thought I had set up another email address on my laptop, but I still can't do anything with my phone.

Whenever I click on the googlemail icon on my phone, I get the message that my account has been changed or I've entered the wrong password and it asks for my password ( I DON'T KNOW IT!! ..lol) but it doesn't give me any option to do anything about it. ( I was getting this, even before I changed anything on my laptop )

So when I've got onto my laptop and tried to change the password, it asks me questions, like 'what was the last known password you used? I DON'T KNOW!! lol

What day/month/year did you last send an email/access your account? I DON'T KNOW..lol

    and

what other labels do you use?? EH? lol

I've tried putting approx days months etc.. and after going all through the process yet again, it tells me at the end that I haven't answered the questions correctly and to 'try again' ..................Arrrrrrrghhhhhhhhh lol

I'm reluctant to do a factory reset as I have lots of important txt messages and over 1000 photos....

All I want is to be able to post some family photos directly to facebook.... :(

What browser are you using on the laptop? With some (certainly Chrome) you can easily find out what the stored passwords are.

Oh, OK, I think the other posters were right and I misunderstood you slightly. So you are happy to leave the gmail and the original google play account alone, but you would like to set up a new google play account so that you can download the facebook app?

I've not done it myself, but there are instructions here

You will need to set up a new gmail account though.

Assuming Chrome does login to your gmail account OK, put this in the address bar: chrome://settings/passwords
Then find your gmail login address, click on it and select "Show" where the password is indicated by a line of dots.
