Hello,
Im looking for some reassurance, I send the template letter off a few weeks ago to ebay regarding compensation for a flight that was delayed last year and today I have received an email from BA saying that I am due compensation but it is asking for my bank details and i'm obviously a little wary. Cant speak to BA until 2moz as they closed at 17:15.
this is the email
Dear Mrs ******
Thank you for contacting us about your claim for compensation.
You are entitled to compensation for the delay of your flight BA*** on ******. The distance of your disrupted flight, as calculated in accordance with EU legislation, was over 3500km. Based on this, you are entitled to €600 in compensation.
As there are two passengers included in your claim, the total compensation due is €1200.
The fastest and most secure way to settle your claim is by bank transfer to a UK account. I will be happy to arrange this for you. Please provide the following information so I can set up your bank transfer:
Bank name
Branch name
Sort code (6 digits)
Account number (8 digits)
If you would like to fax us your details our fax number is 01787 883 195 or you can send your details by email. Please feel free to send more than one email or fax if you are concerned about providing all your information at once, and include your Customer Relations reference number on all correspondence.
Thank you for following this up with us and I hope you will fly with us again soon.
Best regards
Kevin Richardson

You sent it to eBay?
Only you can assess whether the email is genuine or not. But if you've only communicated with BA about your flight details, it's likely to be genuine isn't it? Call them to make sure.
And would you also like to know where babies come from?0 -
If you actually did send a letter to ebay you may have good reason to be concerned
But if you actually sent one to BA congratulations :j:j:beer:
I'm sure they'd be happy to send you a cheque if you'd prefer not to divulge bank details, perhaps you should just give them a bell tomorrow, they'll probably accept bank details over the phone if you're more comfortable with that.0 -
A quick search for the fax number and it does seem genuine... the fax number matches the fax number on this BA website https://www.britishairways.com/travel/custrelform/public/en_gb
If you can fax it I would do that....
