Ok, I've scraped it into boxes now. It's going in the freezer labelled 'gloop'....... that way OH wont think it is actually mince and try to eat it.
:rotfl:
I think this may have been a mistake... unless your OH would be feeding it to you? Honestly, I find the best way to get rid of culinary disasters is to leave them in the freezer for OH to consume when he's forced to fend for himself. The trick is to leave him with something that's going to take a lot of effort to make "there's a (insert ingredients that needs lots of prep here) in the fridge that needs eating. If you don't fancy that, get yourself something out of the freezer and we'll have it tomorrow". I arrive home to complaints that the freezer surprise was minging but I consider it one less disaster's worth of ingredients wasted
Honestly you'd think he'd learn one day wouldn't you? Never fails though. Probably because I don't make him fend for himself often enough :rotfl:0 -
I find 'Bovril' cubes are amazing at adding 'flavour'! hint!0

Congratulations aliasojo, you have just made me laugh for the first time in a few days.
I'm not sure if it beats my burnt jelly and rubber custard but we could make a right mess between us :rotfl:
I've burnt boiled eggs but not jelly YET!!The best portion of your life will be the small, nameless moments you spend smiling with someone who matters to you.0 -

Jelly cubes + water + microwave = one over cooked melted burnt jelly.
Unless you are boiling your own fruit to make jelly (bitless jam) and that is easy enough to incinerate.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I forgot I had some eggs boiling in the saucepan years ago when I first was married, and I blew them up and splattered the kitchen ceiling.;)
I must admit my OH and I were engaged in a deep discussions in another part of our flat at the time:o;););) I'm afraid passion made us both forget the boiling eggs;)
We all have these little misshaps at times:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I like your style. :rotfl:
Thing is though, we kinda have a role reversal thing going on in this house.
I'm the DIY'er and OH is the chef. He's happy chucking things in a pan and making soups, stews, curries etc etc.
I'm fine with basic things (like the way I usually make mince, lol) but the minute I try to be inventive it all goes wrong.
I was thinking last night about how much my tray of 'on offer' mince actually ended up costing me. I'd have been better just making 'doesn't go far' mince, it'd have been cheaper.Herman - MP for all!0 -
If in doubt, add chillies. Lots of them0
