As above we have our letter that both primary and secondary schools will close next Thursday.
I support the teachers decision so no major strop there but oh what a headache for childcare. Does anyone know if you are allowed unpaid leave? I know I am allowed if its an emergency but this is advance notice.

Half of my daughters school is closing. My daughter will be off as one of them is her teacher.
My whole school is striking, accept me and a few others who are not in NUT and NASWAT.0 -
Can you not club together with a couple of parent to hire a nanny / childcare for the day or do a half day each?"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0

My daughter is at college.
She was quite excited at the prospect of day off last week and asked one of her tutors if she had to go in.
Said tutor was quite affronted that she thought she would strike!0 -
Only if the employer allows you. You know its coming so you need to make arrangements or take it as holiday or swap a day, or swap with someone else etc.bloolagoon wrote: »As above we have our letter that both primary and secondary schools will close next Thursday.

No thankfully the school is being kept open.
Previously they have had a blanket closure, but they have said they will aim to keep it open with different teaching staff0 -

Would this be managers teaching or unqualified people?:think:0 -
I can get them looked after, even if my parents fly up to spend some time, but cheekily I'd rather have a day off.Tomorrow is the most important thing in life0
