Ah yes, BUT is this site about findest the cheapest possible price or finding the item they want or what suits them & then getting that for the best possible price:D
My take on it is the latter:D
Anyway I think she already has an all singing all dancing range cooker, shes not going to want to swap that in for a £200 cooker is she?
Anyway, I'm just suggesting she gets a price, to compare.
Personally I wouldn't entertain a gas cooker :-)
But should anyone be expecting public funds to be used to allow people to be fussy about such things? A cooker is a cooker is a cooker. It cooks food, what more do you want?0 -
When we got our house we had a choice of keeping the storage heaters or getting oil (and losing some of the garden). There is no gas in our village. I turned down the oil and don't use the storage heaters. I would not let them remove the solid fuel rayburn in the kitchen as it heats the entire house (chimney goes through the centre of house) cooks my meals (just about fits 2 saucepans on and cooks meals for 6) and heats the water and our wood is free! never used my storage heaters. The "Bloodlust" Clique - Morally equal to all. The council/HA are not going to buy it for her, she has to buy that herself, like if she wants the gas in.0 -

But she wants them to connect gas and put in central heating just so that she can use her flash cooker! And if her cooker is so great then she'll be able to make enough money on it to cover a basic electric model.
None of this is particularly important except in the way that it illustrates people's priorities and lack of ability to compromise.0 -

Oh yes, agreed.
I was only saying she could compare the cost of an electric cooker with what it would cost her to get the gas in herself.
I really don't think its to expensive a tweak, for her to do it if she wants it that much, after all she is getting a big house at a subsidised (are council & HA rents subsidsed? Someone correct me if I'm wrong) rent.0 -

They are cheaper than private renting but they are not subsidised from the public purse - they haven't been for years. In fact, the public purse actually benefits from council housing.0 -
Subsidised, maybe not; cheap, very!!0
-
Yes, they are cheaper than private tenancies, and more secure too.
The price is creeping up however and the services/benefits included are creeping down at the same pace!
They still fulfill a much needed role however. Just we need more of them!0 -
