Might be worth seeing if you can add misfuelling cover to you insurance at some point.
I've just changed to a diesel and Esure did it for next to nothing when I updated the policy. Hoping never to have to use it!0 -
Try fitting one of these http://dieselhead.co.uk/0

I'd be surprised if an insurance company will cover you at all. Seems like a high risk prospect to me.0 -
OH has now purchased one of those caps that only allows the diesel pump to fit.
I told him to call out one of those fuel assist folks but he had already used the breakdown cover to tow to the garage.
I will update once I hear what the damage is...:(0 -

Steffi, do you not realise what a diamond of a geezer you have there, a real normal bloke who makes mistakes, not the too clever by half male model types who masquerade as men these days, too perfect too groomed too good for everyone too in love with their image and themselves to ever make a mistake.
So what he's put the wrong fuel in, if thats all he does to upset the apple cart then you ain't done too bad.

So how much petrol is now in the tank with how much diesel?
If he realised quickly and it's only a couple of litres of petrol in with 60 litres of diesel it's no problem at all .... however ..... on the other hand ..... if he ....
I got stuck behind a woman in the local Sainsburys petrol station once. She was flapping because she'd put petrol in her diesel and couldn't get hold of her husband and and and and and and and..... the girl serving told her she'd have to push it out of the way and phone breakdown / whatever. So she paid for the petrol she'd put in - All £1 of if.
I didn't think she deserved to be told that if she just filled up with diesel, it wouldn't make any difference.0 -

Depends how old the car is. A diesel nozzle will certainly fit into the filler for my petrol car (judged by sight, not by actually trying it)
I actually hate the new exact-size fillers. Always loved the massive one on my '94 diesel Passat as you could fit an HGV nozzle down it and fill the car in less than a minute. (Local garage had both on the same pump)0 -
