How much for AA renewal?!
Comments
-
I know this will probably be merged with the other AA threads, but I still can't believe our renewal cost this year.
If I was a new customer it would be £109. But because I've been with them for nearly 15 years I get to pay £183. That's £74 extra for being a loyal customer.
I think we'll be cancelling and going eslewhere. And having read some other threads we will be asking for written conformation that they've cancelled!!
Hello Mrs Imp, we'd like to address this with you. Please email the details to chat@theaa.com including your full name, address and membership number. Please title your email with Reference FOR52867. Kind Regards, The AA“Official Company Representative
I am the official company representative of The AA. MSE has given permission for me to post in response to queries about the company, so that I can help solve issues. You can see my name on the companies with permission to post list. I am not allowed to tout for business at all. If you believe I am please report it to forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com This does NOT imply any form of approval of my company or its products by MSE"0 -
We were quoted £161 to renew our AA membership. We found we could get a similar deal with our insurance company's breakdown cover for £68 so my wife called the AA this morning to cancel. They have reduced the price to £72 and we will get complimentary home start every year. It clearly pays to not just accept auto-renewal.0

Just joined Autoaid this week, we shall see.0 -
I have just left AA due to their price hikes. I will not play their games, if they are too expensive I'm not going to beg, I've just gone elsewhere.
That's my policy too. During 2013 I've gone elsewhere for breakdown, for house & contents insurance and for car insurance. I then phone and tell them it's too late to make special offers. Maybe if enough people do this rather than "play their games" they'll all start to get the message.0 -
Thanks AA representative, I may do that.
I did call the AA to cancel and spoke to a very nice lady who dropped my price by £50. Unfortunately it's still more expensive than if I were a new customer. She did explain that I was paying for a service which did their best to fix cars at the roadside. I've never had a roadside fix, as I drive a classic car. Most AA mechanics look baffled when they see it and just load it on to the back of a recovery truck. In which case I may as well pay £40 for AutoAid to do the same thing. We'll probably be trying them for a year to see how well they do.0 -
I have had AA for over 30 years the last 25 years we have not had to use them but every year the price was much more than if i was a new member. So for the last 5 years i have called them to get it reduced and this year is the last time i am going to use them.
Why should i have to call them every year to cancel and then they reduce it !
I will try Autoaid next year.0 -

As the AA representative on this site would you like to comment why your company does not offer the best deals to loyal customers and you only offer these deals when they try to leave you?"We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0 -

Common sense?
Do you really believe every company offers you the best price immediately?
What about going out for a meal? Lot's of vouchers but if you go in on a whim you are fleeced?
Ever been to a supermarket and seen products marked as half price? This means for a period of time they sold the products for more, so not offering the best price.
Do you have a car? Ever tried insuring it?
Ever got some money off anything? Bought a car, house, anything? In all cases has the first price offered been the best?
Ever had a job? Negotiated a higher salary? Or offered a job to someone below your budget?0 -

We're not all the same, fortunately.
Our service industries are not based in a Turkish bazarr, where you go through a bartering ritual when you conduct business.
Companies get one bite of the cherry with me, and it would appear i'm not alone.
Attempt to fleece me, a loyal and permanent customer, when respected, and they NEVER see another penny of my money as long as i draw breath.
Its another symptom of our here today gone tomorrow dog eat dog dishonourable modern society, which some of us don't wish to support.
As its my money and so far i've still got a bit left after the govt of the day has pilferred most, I'll decide on business custom and behaviour as much as anything else who to spend it with.0
