TVs won't come with the necessary cables, but your SkyHD box will come with an HDMI cable. I assume your DVD recorder connects with a SCART lead - you will do the same with this on your new TV.
Your new TV will give you a much better picture, but far worse sound, the speakers will be far smaller than your 20" TV - there's just no room for them in these ultra thin screens.
I've been recommending the big sister to this TV, which had suprisingly good speakers. This one is 32" at £300, the one I've used is 39" at £330, try Currys AND Sainsburys stores for £330. You're paying for some 'smart' features that you'll have built into your Sky box anyway, so the bigger TV looks like better value to me.

Seriously, if the TV actually fits, you'll think it's big for, like, one day, then you'll adjust to it. Coming from someone who's gone from 32-40-50-60 inch!

Are pixmania reliable? I've never used them before.
I've used them for about a decade now from time to time.
They are reliable and they are normally well priced.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Ok, so i'm ordering Sky+HD - and need a FULL HD TV to go with it.
If I order the TV to replace my current old TV, what other things will I need to buy so it will all work?
HDMI cables? Or will it all be in the box....
And what HDTV? I'm not looking for a huge one - my current old TV is 20 inch - Something not too much bigger would be fine - I just want a much clearer and better picture.
Thanks for any help - I will continue to trawl the internet too...
I found this, but no idea if a good make http://www.ebuyer.com/538059-dgm-etv-2293wh-22-full-hd-led-tv-etv-2293wh?gclid=CLTz0peb-7kCFQ_LtAodM2sAkg and I don't want freeview anyway...
Won't the Sky + hd box work with an HD ready aswell as full hd TV?
If so , although some people criticise them we bought two 32"" 'Technica HD ready TVs last year from Tesco & have been very pleased with them. (Currently £199)
I have just bought a Humax Freeview + HD PV recorder & this converts picture to full HD when it is broadcast.
These replaced our previous 20 " analogue TVs & after a few days you wonder how you managed with anything smaller.
I have just bought a Technica 22" for the kitchen but the sound quality is tinny as the set is not very heavy but it is adequate for kitchen purposes.
I really think you should buy a 32" & don't think you will regret it.
Incidentally, I am really delighted with the Humax which is so easy to operate & the picture quality is really good even though my aerial isn't brilliant.0 -
Yes, it will work with it, but what's the point of paying for SkyHD, then not being able to view it in HD?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

What I was meaning was does the Sky box work the same as the Humax in which case you still get the full HD channels without paying the higher price for a full HD TV.
IF so it doesn't matter whether your TV is either HD ready or full HD if you are viewing through a box rather than just the TV on it's own0 -
Yes, but you're still not seeing the channels in full HD. If the TV can't display full HD, then it doesn't matter what goes into it, you're not getting full HD out of it.
Full HD is 1080. Anything less than that isn't proper HD.
A TV that has 720 lines cannot suddenly find another 360 to make it up to HD, neither can a standard definition one of 576 lines.1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

Thanks for the TV suggestions - they look and sound very nice - I am going to put it to the people I live with and see what they want to spend my money on!
It's good to know about the scart connection being the same - one less thing to worry about.
Think we will go 32" plus - we want it to make a difference.I've used them for about a decade now from time to time.

Thanks - will look around their site - always good to find a reliable company.Won't the Sky + hd box work with an HD ready aswell as full hd TV?

32" sounds the way to go. I do want Full HD rather and HD Ready though - to make the most of everything.0 -
As a bonus, most new fullHD TVs have FreeviewHD built-in. This is the full 1080P HD, not Sky's 1080i version.
If you watch BBC HD on SkyHD & then watch the same channel on FreeviewHD on a TV placed next to it, you will see a much sharper image.Never Knowingly Understood.

patman99 - FreeviewHD is broadcast at 1080i, same as Sky, unless there are some very rare exceptions I'm unaware of. The broadcasters just don't want to give away that kind of bandwidth.
Don't confuse this with your SCREEN being capable of 1080p - this is still useful for BuRay etc.
The differences you see may be down to bandwidth (though in my experience it's usually better on satellite than Freeview), or more likely because the internal Freeview tuner is better connected to the screen and possibly just a better decoder than the Sky box is.0
