I have got a Cuisinart grill (same as GF) which has removable plates, it has flat plates and grill plates which come off and go I the dishwasher, it's fantastic for rare grilled tuna!0

Damp bit of kitchen roll whilst it's still hot, close it with that spread out inside, when you come back after eating it just wipes clean
I live off mine!
I do similar but with a microfibre cloth. Dampen it and put it inside while it's hot. Come back after dinner and it wipes away really easily. If I accidently forget to clean it I just heat it up again and re-dampen the cloth.
Btw - there are some George models with removeable plates too.0 -
I've got a Jamie Oliver "health grill" - the plates do come off but it's still a nightmare to clean. We use it for steaks etc, but I dread when it comes to washing-up time.

Got a small one and its fine. I oil it before using it. Clean it hot or cold. But always with back of sponge-the non scratch side.0

I bought one after a colleague raved about hers. Followed instructions to clean whilst still hot but it was still messy. I found that chicken breasts were cooked OK inside but the outsides were burnt. Sausages OK but squashed rectangular. Very disappointed and gave it away.0

It says in the instructions to lightly oil the plates before use - don't know if that makes any difference.0

we use ours loads, mainly for sausages and bacon at the weekend.
I clean it whilst still hot with a scourer sponge and some water.0
