Ebookers Missed flight issue

I booked a "package", flight + hotel for Islamabad via Abu Dhabi. I got caught in traffic and completely missed my flight (nerves got the better of me during my flight prep time..).
I paid by credit card. It was my fault the flight was missed. Will i be covered by S75 of the Consumer Credit act, holding the CC company and the booking agent?
Ebookers are refusing to give me more than £140~ out of £785, this is the taxes portion of my fare. I spoke to Etihad and they have always said go back to your travel agent..
Ebookers are ATOL protected, but I can't find their ABTA registration number(ebookers dot eu forward slash EBUK forward slash smart_tip(dot)html .. A website associated with them, under states their ABTA number, but i can't find it on the ABTA website. Can i still press them for a refund of my air fare? What is the situation with this part?? It clearly is a Ebookers website, here is the part I am talking about.
"Holiday Packages which include flights and flight only bookings are ATOL protected by the CAA, except when tickets for scheduled flights sent within 24 hours of payment or for low cost flights. ATOL number ATOL 2562. Protection extends primarily to customers who book and pay in UK. Members of ABTA (ABTA number D0806) and IATA. Website operated by Flightbookers Limited, registered in England with number 01616788 (ABTA registered trading name ebookers.com ) registered office is 5th floor 140 Aldersgate Street, London EC1A 4HY.".
Could i please get some assistance to reclaim more of my money back? I want to rebook for another time at the end of the month.. At the time of bookingI am sure i saw a 'insurance' option to protect me against cancellations for an extra £10/£9.99. I think i saw this on the final page before i confirmed the flight details.. (not entirely sure of the exact details of it). But I think Ebookers are justplaying hardball because I didn't pay the extra £10 admin charge..
I'm gutted at loosing £600, my monthly salary is only £1100
Please help, i really want a higher portion of my fare back for the refund

S75 does not cover you for this, it protects you when the supplier fails to provide what you purchased. As the flight was there but you failed to board it you will be bound by the terms and conditions for the flight ticket you purchased
Some tickets would be fully flexible/refundable (these tend to be the most expensive)
Some you may be able to change for a fee
Many are non-refundable/changeable so the only thing you would get back would be the airport taxes which it appears you have been offered
example - I have a one way domestic flight today which cost over £300 and is flexible/refundable, if I had booked earlier I could have bought one for £150 that I would have been able to change for a fee but not cancel. If I booked even earlier I could have bought one for about £70 no changes no refunds
Have you checked your travel insurance to see if it covers you for this - you will likely have to prove that you gave sufficient time and contingency but the traffic was extra-ordinary (if there were media reports of long delays/accident etc this may help)
If you do not have insurance, or your policy does not cover these circumstances you should accept the £140 and chalk it up to a very expensive lesson learnt
edit: rereading your post you state you did not buy ebookers insurance but did you not have insurance purchased elsewhere?0 -

Hardball? They're holding you to the T&C of your booking and are very generously offering to refund you the tax portion without charge which is more than most other 3rd party bookers would do. I honestly have no idea why you would think you should get a refund for a flight you missed.0 -

I truly thought your OP was a wind up
How anyone could think they had a claim against anyone - other than possibly your own insurance - given the circumstances you outlined is beyond me.Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.0 -
I bought tickets for a football match using my credit card.
My team wuz rubbish and lost.
How long does it take for the credit card company to refund me?0 -
The S75 was a back up. I was more interested in whether I can hold Ebookers liable to the terms of ABTA. On the website i provided in my first post they are registered with ABTA, but i can find no validation for this - i checked their number provided on the ABTA website and found nothing.. Nada..
"
Withdrawal from a holiday contract
If you withdraw from the holiday contract, or where the organiser cancels the holiday for any reason other than the fault of the consumer, then Regulation 13 gives you the following implied rights:- to take a substitute package (if available) of equivalent or superior quality
- to take a substitute package of lower quality (if available) and to recover from the organiser the difference in price between the price of the package purchased and that of the substitute package
- to have the purchase price repaid as soon as possible"

It was your fault though.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Sounds like your travel insurance is the only route available to you.0 -

check the full regulations.
withdrawal relates to specific circumstances which don't cover missing your flight because you were caught in traffic after leaving late.
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1992/3288/contents/made
Withdrawal by consumer pursuant to regulation 12 and cancellation by organiser
13. (1) The terms set out in paragraphs (2) and (3) below are implied in every contract and apply where the consumer withdraws from the contract pursuant to the term in it implied by virtue of regulation 12(a), or where the organiser, for any reason other than the fault of the consumer, cancels the package before the agreed date of departure.
Significant alterations to essential terms
12. In every contract there are implied terms to the effect that—
(a)where the organiser is constrained before the departure to alter significantly an essential term of the contract, such as the price (so far as regulation 11 permits him to do so), he will notify the consumer as quickly as possible in order to enable him to take appropriate decisions and in particular to withdraw from the contract without penalty or to accept a rider to the contract specifying the alterations made and their impact on the price; and
(b)the consumer will inform the organiser or the retailer of his decision as soon as possible.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
You are clutching at straws.
You missed the flight through your own fault.
I'd accept the £140 and feel lucky that I got that - unless your own travel insurance covers missed flights and will accept anxiety problems as a valid reason.0
