There's a difference between filtering and being stupid.

Filtering is something that is done at a slow speed to get past stationary or very slow moving traffic.

That guy was just being a reckless moron and as that clip shows there were about half a dozen other cyclists all cycling responsibly and legally yet it is the single bad cyclist everyone is talking about when they trot out the 'All cyclists break the highway code' mantra.

Yes the good guys were overtaking on the right even though there was a buss/cycle lane.

If you follow the 'Silly Cyclist' channel on You Tube, you will see that the "reckless moron" is not really a "single bad cyclist" at all... there appears to be quite a few of them!

Like I said at the start, CYCLIST are their own worst enemies, you good cyclist need to rein in the bad ones as they are bringing the whole lot into disgrace.

And like I also said there should be some kind of tax/licence on cyclists then they could be indentified and brought to rights for bad cycling.

How do you propose we do that? Do you flag down every driver you see breaking the speed limit and perform a citizen's arrest?
    2015 comp wins - £370.25
Recent wins: gym class, baby stuff
Thanks to everyone who posts freebies and comps! :j
  • I find it strange how cyclists seem to annoy some people so much that they go on and on about them, and often seem remarkably misinformed.

Anyway liz545, I tend not to engage with these debates so much any more, as so many such posters seem um.. not very bright. I believe such generalisations are permitted when talking about cyclists, so I'll take full advantage. :-)

Well perhaps pushbikes could have number plates? Bad riders could be shamed on Youtube by camera equipped bikes and motor vehicles and in London reported to RoadSafe.

You never know in the most serious cases social media could be used to identify them and badger their employer into dismissing them.

I'm full of good ideas today;)

Motorcyclists and cyclists are perfectly within the law when filtering, regardless of marked lanes.
    ......

Occasionally dead, but perfectly within the law, so that's OK then.
