Biggest Threats to Cyclists?

Yeah... just take a look at some of the You Tube clips in the link I posted. Looking at some of the tight space some of them were trying to squeeze through, I'm not sure some of them were "perfectly fine" as you put it.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0

I have come to the conclusion CYCLISTS make up thier own rules.
YOU ONLY PASS ON THE LEFT WHEN THE TRAFFIC IS LANED AND MOVING SLOWER ON THE RIGHT.
note the word LANED
So if you have a cycle lane ( not that anyone here wants to use them ) is on left of slow or static vehicles you can pass them but if not YOU DO NOT go past you wait your turn.Signature removed club member No1.
It had no link, It was not to long and I have no idea why.0 -
Those extra sections of capitals and emboldened capitals have proven decisive.0

Aren't all the cars the ones overtaking?0 -

Manoeuvring. You should be aware of what is behind and to the sides before manoeuvring. Look behind you; use mirrors if they are fitted. When in traffic queues look out for pedestrians crossing between vehicles and vehicles emerging from junctions or changing lanes. Position yourself so that drivers in front can see you in their mirrors. Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low.
Rule 211
It is often difficult to see motorcyclists and cyclists, especially when they are coming up from behind, coming out of junctions, at roundabouts, overtaking you or filtering through traffic. Always look out for them before you emerge from a junction; they could be approaching faster than you think. When turning right across a line of slow-moving or stationary traffic, look out for cyclists or motorcyclists on the inside of the traffic you are crossing. Be especially careful when turning, and when changing direction or lane. Be sure to check mirrors and blind spots carefully.
Rule 72
On the left. When approaching a junction on the left, watch out for vehicles turning in front of you, out of or into the side road. Just before you turn, check for undertaking cyclists or motorcyclists. Do not ride on the inside of vehicles signalling or slowing down to turn left.
Very impressed with the way you selectively quoted those as that's something I can also do
- Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low
In case you can't understand it, that's because filtering on motorbikes and bicycles is perfectly legal as anyone here who has done their bikeability training will tell you.
- Just before you turn, check for undertaking cyclists or motorcyclists
That's right, drivers need to check because this is something bicycles and motorbikes are allowed to do.
As for your highlighting of the line "Do not ride on the inside of vehicles signalling or slowing down to turn left", I don't understand why you're highlighting that as the majority of cyclists killed by left turning vehicles are killed by vehicles that have either not indicated or have turned left after overtaking the cyclist...
I would like you to back up your pedantic little nit picking by finding me all the proven examples where a cyclist was killed because they drove up the inside of a left turning HGV that was already indicating.
For every one you find I can happily guarantee I can find 2 others where the HGV overtook the cyclist or didn't indicate.0 -

And I've come to the conclusion you do not have a clue what you're talking about.
Motorcyclists and cyclists are perfectly within the law when filtering, regardless of marked lanes.
Anyone on here who has done their motorbike licence or bikeability will happily confirm that and if you have trouble believing it then feel free to E-mail contactus@bikeability.org.uk and ask if it is illegal for cyclists to filter on the left.0 -
