Confused between Mum & me or Mothercare or Little Me

Just use water to start with and then wait and see what your babies skin is like before introducing products.
I only manged to bath mine once or twice in the first month anyway so it might be a bit of a non issue0 -
Not sure whether the Olive Oil mentioned in this thread is of the cooking variety but I had my daughter premature and the midwives in the Neonatal Unit advised me to use Boots Olive Oil onsoft gauze swabs rather than water to clean her as the oil would stop any dragging on her skin.
She had had a reaction to the pre-made liquid milk which caused the skin on her bottom to peel off in one piece. A mix of Olive Oil, plenty of Metanium and something the hospital painted on her once every 24 hours soon settled her skin.
I used Olive Oil on her bottom at every nappy change till she was a year old then alternated each nappy change between the oil and Sensitive, fragrance free wipes. I still buy it now for anytime her eczema flares up as it works better than any of the creams she has ever been prescribed.0 -

The advice for premature babies' skin is different, sunflower oil is often recommended as it has lower concentration of oleic acid.
I can't comment on the Boots' variety recommended but most parents, when told to massage olive oil into their baby's skin, will go to the supermarket and buy whatever is on the shelf there.0 -
Just water is fine, you shouldn't need any products apart from nappy rash cream (we used sudocrem) in the first 6 months so. My DS had really long hair too, so i cut it regularly and just water cleaned him fine. Also we didn't use wipes the first 6 months, just warm water and cotton balls to clean his bum.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250

Babies should be bathed in water ONLY for the first month.
Are modern babies so sensitive? All our Mums had was soap and water and that's what they used on us from the first day. I don't remember many of my cohort at school having skin problems.0 -

Yes but I bet our mums didn't bath us every day as is the obsession these days.
Definitely no products for a long time especially not Johnson's its purely nasty chemicals.
If parents feel the need to use products green people do lovely pure baby products.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0 -
I second the "no products" message - my DS2 had awful eczema from about the age of one and the consultant dermatologist at the hospital told me that using products on babies and small children is a no-no. Even products marketed for babies. A very little soap when needed to wash poo off, cotton wool, water. Nothing else apart from nappy rash cream like Sudocrem, or Metanium for very bad rashes.

Top & tail everyday and bath a couple of times a week is more than enough. I used the Little Me range. Love the lavender scent. I just got the moisuriser the other day, even though she is now 8! lol0

I use whatever's on special and smells nice to be honest (but we don't bath the kids everyday) - plus a load of boots own brand stuff we got handed down as it set someone else's baby's eczema off but is fine with our kids' skin.
Wouldn't risk stocking up for that reason alone really.Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0
