  • Awe gawd. That is much better worded. I had printed a draft of mine off and sent it. I might just send this one as well...eek. Maybe if I am quick I can ask PO to swop.

    Oh, no! Jeez!

I'm not sure whether you should send my draft as well as yours, it's just going to confuse - and more likely to hinder than help.

My instinct would be to hold on to my draft (unless you can get the PO to give you your letter back, but unless they know you extremely well, I somehow doubt it - you could be anyone as far as the PO is concerned) until you get a response to the one you've just sent!

I'll see if any of the other regulars pick up on this and see what their opinions are.

Just for the future - if you want our help you must work alongside that advice - if you don't get immediate response doesn't mean that anyone has abandoned you - we haven't, and we won't (unless you keep doing it your own way).

The reason I was 'late' responding was given at the head of my draft - I'd just spent over an hour working on your case when the 'Submit Reply' crashed my iPad and I lost it all - causing me to do it all over again.

One final word on this - if you go it alone to POPLA (if you manage to get the code) YOU WILL MOST DEFINITELY LOSE.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • I ended up sending that as well. I know I should have waited and definitely appreciate the responses and will in future wait and abide by them. I was borrowing a printer today as mine is broken and wanted it gone asap as I am worrying about it too much, when I've much more to worry about. Your response was much better than my waffle, so will be more organised. Should I ever manage to get that POPLA - I will have bags more time to read through and a head that won't be full of exams.

Thanks so much, I wished I'd waited but we'll see what happens.

But I told you to wait - there seems no point in all the work I'm doing just to see its effect neutered by your seeming impetuousness. I actually took the trouble to tell you to do that in my last post. I don't think there's much hope by the way you are going about this.

When this sort of stuff happens, when lots of time has been given to a case and clearly the OP ignores what was requested, it raises suspicions as to whether this is some sort of PPC wind-up to consume valuable forum contributor time on a wild goose chase. The jury is out, and I think, so am I.

Which part of the below did you not understand (or wish to follow).

  • Hi there.
I hadn't seen your post. I was panicking but not impetuous. I didn't chose to ignore it. I was out and had access to a printer and a PC that didn't kept crashing. I can see your point and why you'd felt I wasted your time but I was desperate to get the job gone and done.

I've waited over ten years to get pregnant. I have had a scare of losing it and I really was just thinking, just get this gone. A crashing PC, forthcoming exams, health problems and a pregnancy complete brain fog, don't help. I know it sounds ridiculous and people have bigger problems but it does effect me cognitively. You are right I am going to need a lot of luck and all the help I can get.
So anyway. I am sorry. It certainly isn't a wind up and judging by what you've said looks like I ballsed up and don't have a chance. Now I am worried I've upset someone to boot. Though I totally understand where you are coming from.

Look, just let the dust settle. What's done is done, see what comes of your two letters, maybe they'll be so confused they'll throw their hands up, run screaming around the room and just give up.

Having just been lucky enough to have our first baby granddaughter two weeks ago, I know how pregnancy and childbirth is precious, so I don't want to heap any unnecessary pressure on you. Maybe I'm a softee - but not someone to mess with!

So concentrate on what's important to you at the moment - but when you get a response from the PPC, re activate this thread and bring us up to date.

One more go from me - if you agree to follow what we advise; if you want to go it alone, no hard feelings - up to you.

Thanks and I certainly will follow the advice. Yesterday I had headless chicken syndrome. I'm in the older bracket, so won't get another chance. So am a bit on tenterhooks. I was tempted to pay it and get gone but I wouldn't have been happy with myself. I also feel upset that I thought the warden was 'kind'. My rose tinted specs have gone in the bin.

That's by the by anyway. I will see what happens. I will wait, stay calm and follow the great advice I am given. Thanks and congrats on become grandparents :) Happy days.
  • The letter has arrived and is the usual 'we can only address the factual issues of the charge' and that I can pay within 14 days and cannot be discounted' the rate in there exact words is '£100' I can pay, or if I do nothing they will seek to get the money and I have been given a 10 digit reference number.

I really, really am not in a good place right now. I lost my baby this weekend and I am beyond distraught, in fact these seems so insignificant , when I am having re- scans and may be admitted to hospital next week. Paying a fine seems like the easiest thing to do, save for the place I am in now, getting a 'victim mentality' will do me know good. Neither will fighting and losing. I'm two seconds away from picking up the phone and ringing them. I am nor far from a complete breakdown.

This isn't for a 'poor me' post. I was an idiot falling for a scam, but thought I'd mention it because if all likelihood is that I will fail it's best to know...however, fighting back could empower me. I don't want sympathy. I want justice, if it is attainable.

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your baby. I'm sure the persecution by UKCPS at a very delicate stage would not have helped you one bit. Now, don't go picking up your phone, we, between us on the forum, will get you through all this. We've got 28 days from the date of the 'rejection' letter to get your POPLA appeal in, and this one will be an Exocet!

As they are not even offering you a discount period, despite their procrastination (we could challenge that, but there are better things to channel our efforts into), you have absolutely nothing to lose in appealing to POPLA. Remember, POPLA decision is binding on the PPC, not on you.

Just try and relax and leave it with us, we'll sort it. Don't panic if all goes quiet for a short while, it means we're thinking, not sinking!

    Do look after yourself.

    I agree.

    It's very simple.

If you want, we will do a template appeal for you. All you need to do is fill in the POPLA code, and the vehicle registration details, their ref and the rest will be supplied by us. All you would have to do is type out the letter and send it by snail mail.

You would be almost certainly guaranteed to win - we are running at 100% success so far and let's suppose the worst happened and for some reason your appeal failed, you would be no worse off that now.

I know this is insignificant to your loss, but we can and will steer you through it if you want us to.
