Glad you're having a look in WP. We've lived here 5 years and have been very happy. I would definitely recommend. And we have a waitrose! Lol! Plus also a massive Sainsburys and Tesco so all close.
People are lovely, I was helped the other day getting the buggy rain cover on when the rain came down and even offered an umbrella by a total stranger.
It's a nice place to live0 -
We're scheduling some viewings in Worcester Park - let's see... !
Worcester Park is probably a good choice - zone 4 so travel is relatively inexpensive and the trains to waterloo are fairly quick, frequent and run quite late.
Some parts of Worcester Park are a bit on the iffy side but the streets between Worcester Park and Stoneleigh are lovely - things are flying off the market in the area at the moment though so try to get viewings as quickly as possible if you see something of interest.
I don't think the 'centre' in Worcester Park is very pleasant, but there are better places to go for pubs/restaurants quite close by - I really like Cheam Village (sadly the train from Cheam into London is a bit rubbish so it's a place to visit rather than live).Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
Think we're pretty set on Worcester Park to be honest now, thanks everyone for the advice, it has really helped us0

New Malden has a villagey feel. Best-kept secret in South London.
Very spacious and tree-lined with much of the streets unrestricted for parking. Low crime, good schools.
Handful of pubs but good connections to Kingston/ Wimbledon/ London. Trains run very late (12.30 from Waterloo will get you home 25 mins later, 11.44 from Wimbledon, 11.33 from Kingston will get you home 5 mins later. Regular buses run till 2AM then night buses every 15 minutes).
Waitrose on High Street. Tesco hypermarket and other big stores at Shannon Corner.
Golf course, driving range. Feels amazingly open especially when you compare it with Raynes Park one stop further in or Kingston (two stops out). There's three train stations (NM, Norbiton, Motspur Park).
Good for bringing up a family safely /not getting mugged, and living in the kind of house you get out in the home counties but for next to nothing while you're in zone 4 and only 25/30 mins from central London. Fast buses to Heathrow (1 hour)/ Croydon (40 minutes?).
Worcester Park's also good but transport's limited. Amazing amount of roadworks (but today was clear). There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
