I've never yet searched for a comp by date.
I normally pick up at the date I stopped entering, and go on from there. I try to keep up, but am normally about a day behind.42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot:hello: Good Luck everyone !:hello:0 -
The problem with your suggestion is that it is another thing to remember when you are posting competitions.0

I see your point, but given time I don't think it would be any different to remembering the current format. The only difference being that Edmon is more versatile.
Don't worry, though. Given the levels of resounding positive feedback I don't think this is going anywhere.
For those who might be sceptical I would ask you to do the following...
1) Try and search for a competition by it's end date (i.e. enter E: 31/07 into the search tool).
2) Now try searching for this: E31AUG
Thanks all to the feedback so far.0 -
I think this is a really good idea, as a date search would be helpful, I had tried it before and it didn't work so I would use it to check I hadn't missed any important comps

Back Comping in 2024!0 -
I think its a good idea but I think to be honest I prefer it the way it is and search for keywords etc. I alsotend to keep upto date with the comps anyway.
I think it appears a bit clearer the way it is rather than Eddmon but its a good idea but not sure it will catch onWeight Loss - 102lb0 -
Although I understand why you're suggesting the change, I'm not sure many people search by date. Also, even if the more regular posters adopted it, there are bound to be people who wouldn't (some people still don't put ANY end date) so if you relied on the search, you could miss some good comps.

Interesting idea but I'm not sure there's that big a problem in need of a solution. In the months I've been on the forum I can't recall that many people asking for a search by date in title function. People seem to adapt to the way its currently run.
If we want the forum to run smoother, I think it'd be more useful if people checked the rules before posting & include dates in the title (not that I'm really moaning, I think everyone's grateful when peeps post a new comp). IMHO opinion a more useful improvement would be to overhaul the search engine - its a fickle thing at the best of times.
Whilst the present system may not be perfect, or suit everyone, it seems to work as most people 'keep up' with the comps they want to. As long as people are prepared to keep sharing their comp finds, I'm not too keen on adding to their burden.
Like cheekychickhen, just my 2p worth.

Thanks to all for the feedback so far. None of it malicious or nasty, so all very welcome.
Will post a better reply in a bit. Got chores to do or the wife will kill me.

Hello and welcome to the comps board :hello:
As you can see we are a nice bunch and are receptive to new ideas, but as someone has said it makes a lot for the posters to remember when actually doing the competitions, we have had truckloads of suggestions over the last few months, especially now the board has got really popular, but I don't recall any lasting after a few days of the suggested format being used
I've been posting on this board for 3 years nearly now and the date format has always been the same as that is what is stated in the boards rules and I could list a whole load of "suggestions" about the way people post the comps but I, as are others are just grateful for the fact that people want to post on the board and make it what it is

Hello jwilly and welcome to the forum, I dont have too many problems keeping up with the comps but then I do go on everyday, not sure how I would do it if I was away for a few days or longer  I cant really get on at work so sometimes when I get in I have a fair few to go through and I just start on page 1 and work backwards. That's easy when you only have the days comps to look at. If it was longer........I will cross that bridge when I get to itWhat we see depends mainly on what we look for
