  • I'm also new to comping. I am a bit worried though about giving my date of birth and address out to all these sites, in some instances I am sure that is all that is needed to steal someone's identity - does everyone use their true date of birth and do they check if your win??

    Hi Resident Evil :hello:

I tend to enter the comps with my real date of birth, I do keep my wits about me though & if a site doesn't look right to me then I'll just click the 'Thanks' button on the original post & move on to another. Sometimes it can be useful to be a little behind with entering the competitions, as by the time I get to them they have mostly been 'vetted' by the more experienced compers on here & have had any warnings added to the thread.

My advice - always read the whole thread before you enter, as sometimes there is discussion about an answer changing or someone points out that the site has been known to spam you to next Tuesday once it has your details :D

Hope this helps a little & feel free to ask if you need anything clarified or you have any other questions :) They are a really friendly bunch on here!
Sad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out
  • Thanks VelvetGlove

That does make me feel a whole lot better and you've given some wonderful tips. I don't know where everyone here finds the time to do anything else though competitions get posted faster than I can enter them!

I would have thought that the majority of competitions posted on here are for UK only, you could use your mums address - assuming that she doesnt mind of course! Dont think she would get much junk mail unless you forget to opt out of them, do you get other mail sent to her house or would she know that any mail to you would be comeptitions related?

  • Evening all!

I'm fairly new around here (introduced myself the other night but that's been about it!).

Where do we stand on comps run by local radio stations i.e phone in when you hear a certain track type thing? With so many people listening (or rather being able to listen) on the internet do we post up these competitions on here? It's just that we've got a new local station just started up and me and my dh have already won 3 of them 'cos they don't have the listener base yet!

Also what about comps where you have to register an interest with a certain product in order to go into a prize draw - do we post those details on here?

    TIA and happy comping!

most of the comps that are on here are free or postal, very few are phone in ones. with the example you mention by the time its posted on here would they not already have selected the winner?

comps where you registered with different websites (free) are posted on here but Im not sure what you mean by register an interest with certain product?

Anyway welcome to comping and hope you win lots of prizes!

does anyone know of any sites that actually show restrictions? uk only, over 18 only, none etc.
Ive found one site that shows no restrictions (which means i can enter them from greece!!)

If you can see that at a glance its easier for me to enter them rather than opening a page ,then seeing uk only at the bottom.

    This is the site http://www.theprizefinder.com/
