I understand that this was written from the cousin's perspective... but if the reason for writing really is to act as a warning to others then I don't think the way it is written hits the spot.

When reading it, all I hear is a kind of 'fan-zine' plus some excuses for her behaviour - not really hearing much in the way of warnings to others.

I read it as a tribute to the cousin she has essentially lost, rather than a 'fan-zine'. After a death we tend to look back on the person's life in a loving and forgiving light and although this person is still alive she is not the same. Also remember that the blog was intended to stop someone making the same mistake so it's meant to reach out to people who might drive drunk and change their minds, it couldn't do that if it demonised them. As for warnings, the last lines say:

"I know this has been a bit of a long one reader, but on the anniversary of my cousin's crash I'd like to put her story out there. If this saves, helps, interests just one person then maybe she wasn't wasted.

Please see that, even the most invincible of people are vulnerable. Life is not worth risking, because it's the people we leave behind that suffer for our actions.

Please always wear your seatbelt when you or someone else is driving.

Please don't risk driving when you've had a few to drink.

Always respect the life you've been given."
