Apologies for being late this week, but please count me in. The black dogs visited over the weekend, yesterday and most of today, and as a result of which, hardly anything got done. However, some finance problems have been sorted out today and that has helped move some of the dogs, so am hopeful of flying more tomorrow. Think I will do some more dot-to-dotting and see where that leads to.
Have also got to eat one of my frogs tomorrow - filling in a form - NOT my favourite occupation as they always seem to take so long. If I wake up early, I'll have breakfast and then make a start on it - get the worst done first!
Good night all.

Delightful new lodger has arrived - all smiles despite a delayed flight followed by a long coach trip from Thiefrow. And she likes cats and dogs. Ex'lent.
This is, without doubt, the most amazing spider year I've ever known. They are everywhere, shedloads of them, huge, and OH thinks they ALL have teeth. And carry machetes. Off to Mount Edgcumbe once the conker season starts and we will have little piles of the glorious shiny orbs scattered willy-nilly in the Honey Bear House to deter them. I can't be doing with the histrionics when he finds one, and then expects me to move them. I'm not wild about them myself but I'd rather be someone who can pretend to 'man up' when required, than admit it. OH is a big girl's blouse, truth be told.Better is good enough.0 -
Meant to post last night as my naff day did improve a bit and I got some things done...but when I sat at computer and read through new cc bill, noticed they had added incorrect interest on for the second month. Last month I noticed some, rang them up to query it and they agreed to refund it. This time the refund was clearly printed, then above it a new lot of interest! Cue another phone call and 'discussion' as to why, if I had no outstanding balance, they could charge interest on it! Surely any % of £0 has to be £0.........trust me, I'm a teacher. Passed phone to OH who argued more coherently than me (I hate phones), then spoke to manager who agreed another refund. Watch this space.
Today - gym x 3. One of my zumba instructors has been doing a course in a 'Strictly' style dance class, so she added a Charleston into our class, which was manic but good fun. She asked us if we would like to be guinea-pigs for this new class, so next week she's throwing in a jive. Came back shattered, via Mr Ts as I'd run out of fruit & veg (apart from the 5 bowls of apples in the kitchen). Got bargain Indian meal for 2 reduced, £5 for 2 mains, rice, bhajis and naan.
Turned on computer to check today's list, and found email from manager at Uni asking if I could start with a new student asap. Arranged for tomorrow, and added a second one. So that's my 'freelancing' started. I have another 5 referrals from that Uni who are going to let me know their timetables, and am starting next week with 2 from another Uni. I'm quite excited and relieved, as although I've enjoyed the preparation for this, until I know I will have some money coming in it's a bit of an anxious time. Spent a while preparing paperwork.
Got lots more photo sorting done. I guess the house cleaning is postponed for another day.........Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

There certainly are. My house looks like something from a Hammer Horror film much of the time, with webs everywhere even though i'm being fairly proactive with the vacuum and fevver duster.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -

My Toots list is a very important one. I hate Ivy with a passion, but iradicating it completely requires more time, effort and patience than I currently have at my disposal.
While everyone is out picking blackberries for jams, crumbles, vodkas and other assorted niceties, it is important not to ignore the poisons that could be lurking in your garden.
I noticed that the ivy berries were starting to form on the fence panels. Wood pidgeons love them, but I don't want a poorly DS or worse.Although the berries won't be ripe for some time, the chance of getting fine weather to do something about them is going to be limited.)
Ivy berries, honeysuckle berries all cut off with hedge trimmer ready for bagging tomorrow.
Weeds experienced a Skinty Chain Saw Massacre (well Hedge Trimmer Massacre didn't quite have the same ring to it :rotfl:)
Went to Orange DIY store and bought a 3 in 1 garden blower/vac/shredder and had a quick play with it before it got too dark outside.
Front garden mowed around all the tree stumps. Any large rocks I could remove with my bare hands pulled out. (DS kindly informed me I have lovely hands not like BEAR hands at all :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:)
5 bags of garden trimmings and 2 barrow loads of rocks and 1 box of assorted garden gibble taken to dump
put Living Room to bed and whizzed hoover round kitchen floor, but that is it for indoor flying
Everyone fed bathed and in bed, I call that a victory.
The cold never bothered me anyway0 -

I've been eating frog after frog this evening and am now completely full of them. Still lots more to do but I find once I get the first one eaten the others are somehow more palatable.
Off to bed now for a chapter of my book.

Had a very strange evening and unproductive flying wise. Saw the final school for Dd1 and came home and went to bed with dd2. Dd1 had been in bed about an hour when she came in asking what that noise was. Couldn't hear a thing but apparently it was an alarm of some sort. Told her to go back to sleep, she then announced me turning off the light had made her jump. I hadn't moved in hours. Realised I was sitting in darkness having gone to sleep watching tv. Power cut. Great. Went to call OH and phone wasn't working. It was very strange. Half the neighbours were outside with torches, mobiles weren't working, sirens flying up the road and helicopters overhead. Felt like a movie.
Not sure how much flying will get done.0 -
Skint breeder I chuck 1/2 a mug of kitchen salt dissolved in a large (3 pint) jug of boiling water over the base and tendrils of the ivy every now and then. It's the only thing I know that works other than chemicals and I don't use those. A bonus is it also gets rid of weeds in cracks in patios etc. Don't let it go onto the lawn though, it will kill the grass!
Slept til 10 this morning, had to make myself get up but so tired I could sleep for a week (always like that after a busy time and had a visitor for a week which was lovely, just get very tired)
Last of laundry done and dried, last of ironing tomorrow
Kitchen and bathroom got their daily swish
Planted more bedding and another net of daffy bulbs
Did tops/ceilings with tickling stick
Brushed dog and cat
Slept all evening, just woken up as it's time to go to bed!0
