In theory, you could make a substantial amount of money from the 3M "The Apprentice" offer.

    www5.3m.com/intl/uk/apprenticeuk/

All of the qualifying purchases, Ts and Cs and a claim form can be found on the 3M site, above.

I don't know what the prices are for any of them, save the PostIt "Warm Neon Rainbow Pad", which was, yesterday, at www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/editorial/office-supplies-homepage/, £1.47. If you make the qualifying purchase of two and use the "Collect at Store" facility, the outlay comes to roughly £3 making a profit of £2 when you receive the £5 gift card.

To make it worth your while, you'd have to make several qualifying purchases and not be embarrassed when using the £5 Maestro debit 'swipe' cards for other purchases.

The card isn't "Chip and Pin" but a single-use "swipe" debit card. If the shop doesn't have a 'swipe' reader, the number will have to be inputted, manually, and if you don't use all of the £5 in one purchase, you lose the balance. Plus, I don't know about you, but I'd be embarrassed, when making a purchase using several of these cards, having to explain, before I handed-over the goods, that I wanted the bill split into £5 blocks, where every card number has to be manually keyed-in.

If you can manage this, buy hundreds of the requisite PostIt or Scotch products and make at least £2 per purchase. A 66% profit is far better than I could make gambling. You may, also, find these particular products cheaper, elsewhere, especially if bought in bulk.

Also, the cards are like genuine debit cards, not time-limited.

    I hope this info. helps.

Yesterday I purchased a couple of sellotape dispensers with the 2 rolls free, some neon post-it notes and some canary yellow post-it notes (in both sizes).

I have just cut off my barcodes and gone to attach them to my claim forms which I picked up in PCWorld. The barcodes for the neon post-it notes are correct. However, the barcodes for the sellotape and the canary yellow post-it notes are not the same. Does anyone else have this problem.

Yes, my barcodes for the Scotch magic tape and dispenser don't match the code on the leaflet. Can't imagine they'd honour the deal because of this however it does state that you can send the invoice as proof of purchase so I'm going to give it a go by sending my receipt off and see what happens.

I did see that somewhere, but can't find it now. Please can you point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

Just some additional notes on the 3M Apprentice Gift Card.

If you are making a large number of applications they will email or phone you to offer higher value cards. Instead of the £5 cards they also have £10 and £20 cards.

There is an expiry date on these cards. Mine expire 04/08.

    Hope this helps.

It's on the part of the form where you have to tick whether you want to receive their offers in the future ie. the section you send off.

No body seems to be including the sale price of these items .should you have more than you can use .They do seem to sell well on ebay .I think you would easily get rid of them at £3.00 for 2 packs ..making a well over 100% profit ...means a bit of leg work ..but a good honest way of making a few quid
  • Went down to the Peterborough store this morning and they had quite a bit there - Scotch tape, bubble wrap, brown paper, DVD Mailers, pens, note pads, folders, post it notes, notice boards etc all at the reduced prices! Managed to get a whole trolley full of packaging stuff so thanks to the OP! Although the store in general was quite busy - nobody else seemed interested in the stationery stuff!

Thank you for that. I knew I had seen it somewhere. However, I am not sure if they will accept the till receipt.

However, I think I feel a carefully worded telephone call on Monday to 3M. The claim form states that the Canary yellow Offer is limited to PC World Customers only, and this is where I bought these products. Similarly, I bought the Magic Tape and Dispenser. How could I possibly know that the barcode on the product I bought, is different to the barcode on the product on the leaftlet - which is one and the same item.

I will post again once I get some answers.
