Thanks for this. I've filled in the form and submitted it - haven't heard anything yet, but fingers crossed.
I haven't been on all weekend, but have got some more items listed on eb@y, a few of which have watchers. I've sold a couple of bits which I posted today - just need to work out what I've made once fee's () are paid.

20p in roadkill from the centre console in the car. That's about it. I know the little payments add up, but its so much nicer having big numbers to report. Feeling a bit overwhelmed and wish I could just get rid of the debt, but then that wouldn't learn me anything would it! :o

fingers crossed you get taken on with Pinecone.

I know hun, you just want the debt all gone now!! :o

but believe me those small payments all soon add up and before you know it you have paid one off and the feeling is great, then the next one is half way through, and so on.

Have you joined the make a payment a day thread?

A very disappointing week really - Fleebay sales totalled around £10 after fees etc - was expecting around 3 times that amount. Had a bumper Roadkill day on Friday £1.60 in 1 afternoon and all of it found on the floor and yes I remembered to was my hands! £15 from a Fish Tank a returned to Pets at Home.

Thanks for your crossed fingers all - the update is.....
No update. He's been there since 8am this morning, they are "prepping" for when new components and orders come in but so far no-one has come down with a contract, terms or anything. He finishes in 10 minutes so I assume back in tomorrow and hope they hear something?

Oh flip yeah go with the whoopsies - i got a full weeks shopping yesterday for £8.57 including steak pies, chocolate cake, bread, milk etc etc - i freeze everything and its great :D

Oh and i don't know if anyone else has noticed, i seem to have a distinct increase in the number of item not received cases being opened on the bay :( it seemed to ease off there for a while but its back......in time for Christmas shopping :( I was caught out recently by a buyer who has claimed 6 times that parcels were not received (other sellers got in touch with me) but i had already sent a refund.

Anyway, i have now put together a response to try and put off any fraudulent claims and thought i'd share:

Hi and thanks for letting me know you haven't received your item yet. I do have a proof of posting for it which i will send you a copy of.

Can you please check with your local post office as they may have tried to deliver and not left a card - this seems to be happening more frequently now and several buyers have got their parcel redelivered.

I will be able to start an investigation case with your local office in a few days time - they ask to wait for 14 days before starting the investigation. Just so you are aware they will be highly likely to contact you if we need to open a case - they have apparently changed their procedures due to a high number of item not received claims being submitted.

In the meantime i will send a copy of this proof of posting and please do let me know if the parcel arrives in the next few days.

Please rest assured i will take all the appropriate action to try and track down your parcel.

Many Thanks

I thought it might be useful for anyone else getting similar claims. (any comments or suggestions welcome :) )

I'd seriously rethink sending that to a buyer, all that will happen is that they open a case on you and hit your stars when they leave feedback.

As a big buyer myself I would see that as a direct accusation of lying, and at that point I would no longer consider myself obliged to assist you. As for sending me a copy of your POP, what for..unless you have a guilty conscience or have feedback that suggests buyers don't believe you are sending their goods.

You runs a business and losses are an unfortunate part of any online business that relies on the postal service. Your losses can be reclaimed from RM and anything not reclaimable can be written off against tax.

Selling online is it easy, but we cannot afford to alienate our buyers .

Thanks for the feedback Soolin, the buyer has already opened a case and the response to my reply was apologetic and very happy to wait a few extra days.

I have accused no-one of lying, I have simply informed them of the process, and sending them a copy of proof of postage was simply to reassure the buyer it was actually posted, how you think that might look like a guilty conscience i have no idea????

I am not running a business i am simply selling off things i have cluttering up my house, and quite frankly i don't see why i should have to refund money as soon as someone says something hasn't turned up and wait for up to 3 months for it to be refunded or to be sent stamps instead - its this immediate refunding behaviour in my view that is escalating the number of fraudulent claims in the first place. Last year i had so many claims of non receipt i literally was left without money for food and that is not a situation i want to repeat.

It is a dreadful problem on ebay which they are unwilling to do anything about, so instead i am trying to come up with a way of discouraging it. Its difficult to find way to do that without offending genuine people - if you have any alternative suggestions how to do this i would be very happy to hear them.

Thanks Emmaglet for your comments. Disappointing day today, although have been at work, earned $0.58 from AppTrailer which converts to only about £0.35p! Although on the positive side I didn't spend anything.:money:

Think I will try iPoll a bit more. I like the look of the 'beverage' challenge that you have also done Emmaglet, that would bag me £5, just need to run out of some beverage! May be we will need some milk later on in the week!

I tried to complete a survey today on iPoll for about £0.90p and it took me to another website to download software and to register on their site. Is this usual?

Emmaglet you did so well on your shopping :T

The issue is that the buyer is going to get a refund whatever you do if item has not turned up. Anything at all that you do to annoy them and which serves no purpose is likely to endanger your stars. I am obsessed with stars and drive the regulars on the eBay board crazy with constantly going on about them as it only takes a few lows for sellers to run into trouble and I wouldn't want you to endanger your account.

Buyer does not need your COP that only benefits you and a buyer may think that by sending a copy you expect them to claim and are going to refuse a refund. That alone might be enough to dip you a star or two and serves no purpose.

If you are getting a lot of losses then perhaps look at your selling model, are your labels well written, are they securely on your packets do you have return addresses clearly showing? before I took the summer off I was sending approx 150-200 parcels a month and have had no losses for about 4 months.

As for being a business, if you buy to resell you are a business, and since you post openly on this forum others may well have noted the pattern. I would urge you to be very careful identifying yourself by giving details of your purchases and sales in any depth .

Just remember that once a case is opened you must refund before eBay force you to otherwise the case is added to your expanded dashboard and counts as a strike. You also lose your fees if eBay force the refund.
