Surely if it includes a forced 'topup' its being supplied on a network deal and is therefore locked not unlocked?

The Y300 on Argos without Topup is £99 and truly unlocked as the op wanted. Unlocking is easily available but as this one is a generic it has no network branding or bloat and is a good handset.

(well it comes with some stupid games demos that need wiping straight away)

    No.

    It comes "truly" unlocked.

Not tied to any network, no bloatware etc.

Identical to a sim free phone, but cheaper.

Looking at CPW, it looks like I can get it PAYG for £69.95 with £10 top up for either O2, Orange, Virgin or T-mobile. Could I then get it unlocked?

    BTW what is bloatware?
Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending

As it was said several times above, CPW phones are normally unlocked.
    BTW what is bloatware?
Network-branded software, usually relying on their pay-for services.

As posted in reply to sillygoose misinformation, the phone will be a sim free truly unlocked item!

(Use a cashback site and get it cheaper by way of the cashback)

What misinformation? .... did you not see the question mark? it was clearly posted as a query. but if your certain its totally risk free and the op will get an unlocked phone without doubt - fair enough.

    You need to calm down.

The misinformation was your implying that only by buying from argos would ensure a "truly unlocked, generic, no network, bloatware free good handset"

This was your "authoritative" misinformation, and your ? seemed a rhetorical one!

I am certain the purchase is risk free.

(Apart from my own certainty, cpw give you a no questions ask refund if you want to return a phone bought online)
  • Has anyone said this before, the Y300 comes totally unlocked from CPW:rotfl:
About 2 months ago I bought 2, one for me and one for my OH, and took the upgrade offer as we both had Virgin PAYG Sims, so £59.95 without any top up.
They are now working on 3 and Ovivo networks.
