Unlocking Huawei Ascend 300

Hi

Is it easy to get a Huawei Ascend 300 unlocked? There's a Vodafone Huawei Ascend 300 on Argos for £69.99, but the Sim Free Huawei Ascend 300 is £99.99. I assume these are exactly the same phone, but one locked, one unlocked. How easy is it get this phone unlocked? I've never unlocked any phone before.

? The page doesn't make much sense to me. Is it easy to unlock a Huawei Ascend 300 or should I just buy the unlocked one? I don't want to throw £70 down the drain, but if I can get it unlocked it will save me money, surely?

Grumbler, is that link just to unlock the boot loader, or will it unlock a phone locked to Vodafone network as well? I always thought they were 2 different things.

I just posted the link from HUKD thread.
I am no expert and don't have this phone, but I think this is the way to install a fresh (or a new) ROM that will effectively result in network unlocking.

It is very easy I had one of these locked to vodaphone brought from argos just used ebay and put in unlock codes for ascend g300 into the search box.... from memory it cost me less than £5 and the code came back about an hour later and took about 20 seconds to do..
It is a great phone too for the money

Seconded as above, just search eBay for 'Huawei Ascend G300 unlock'.
I used the people below via eBay, but you can go direct. Cost me about £6.

Why not just buy it from Carphonewarehouse there phones are unlocked already form £69.99 plus £10 topup.

Look at the newer ascend y 300 at cpw.

Comes unlocked.

Ah sorry, my mistake, I thought I was seeing the same phone. The cheaper one at Argos is the G300. I think I'll go for the Y300 from Argos then as it's £20 cheaper than CPW. No unlocking needed, sorry!
