I can't comment about Superseal but I was cold called by Right2improve today (google right2improve to see their website) . They were offering the Magic Thermodynamic Box system at up to 30% discount if I agreed to allowing them to monitor the system.
So the system consists of a power flush, magic box, new TRV's, new motorised valves, new lockshields, new pump, new boiler programmer and new thermostats. The quoted retail price was £11,400 and I was offered a £3000 subsidy so it was going to cost me £8400.
I have a 30 year old Potterton Netaheat boiler and spend about £500 per annum on gas for the central heating. Even at 40% saving, which I know won't be achieved, that's 42 years to break even!
That's a 'no' from me then.0 -
I've had a salesman in my house today for 2 1/2 hours trying to convince me what a great product this.
At £8,500 (started off at £11,500 - the reduction was if I was willing to act as a 'case study') it is very expensive when at their best figures I was only going to 'save' £250 a year off my gas bill.
Might be a good product but not at this price.0 -
Seems an awful lot, what are savings supposed to be?
try this for comparison Elite TDCH thermodynamics this is an indoor air source0 -
I am no central heating engineer but after having a cold call re magic box I asked what was the difference between their box and turning the boiler stat down and the pump speed up, they said their box was MAGIC.
Also on an open vented system is there not a possibility of pumping water through the exspantion pipe into the header tank due to the increase in speed of water flow, I assume increase of speed = increase in delta P,
I stand to be corrected by those that know more.

I have the Magic Heating Box (not so magic) fitted with a boiler in 2013 at a cost of £9,500.
I recently had an issue where I could no longer get any hot water. With two children in the house under the age of 3, you can imagine this is not a great situation to find yourself in.
Not to worry Superseal gave me a ten year warranty. Ha what a joke, the office staff gave me the run a round for a whole week, promising an engineer visit on three different occasions, even after taking a days holiday from work...... no engineer visit.
Please be very careful in dealing with this company, in my experience their warranty is not worth the paper it is very nicely printed on. I have had to have a repair carried out on my boiler by an independent heating PROFESSIONAL at a cost to myself.0 -
I would stay well clear of this as there is nothing magic nor are there any appreciable savings. We have one, probably going to take it out. After we supplied Envirosolar with two years of gas usage they sent us a one page sheet showing 20% savings but without an explanation. When I calculated the figures there wasn't any savings at all. When I queried there figures they simply ignored all emails.0
