obvs i couldn't get on hl all day but now i can and my shares are still showing. the order is still in the pending orders tab but i can't cancel it.
will my shares have been sold and i am just waiting for the system to catch up or will they not have sold as my limit order was for less than the opening price this morning?
ps. i have only sold enough shares to get my original £750 back out and will leave the rest in to see what happens. just an idea for anyone who wants to do the same - free shares in royal mail!
just in case anyone is interested, i rang the helpline this morning and my sell didn't go through. i have now set up another one to sell at 451p so hopefully that will go through on monday and i will make a few more quid.
still going to only sell £750 worth and keep the rest in but not sure if i should move from hl now - seems like a dodgy company now. they could have at least sent out an email to apolgise.0 -

Selling £750 worth is quite a good idea. You get your original money back and the profit become free shares.0 -

You of all people know how hard it is to find the top or the bottom.
A profits a profit. O4U
There`s a lot of nonsense in the papers about what price it hit and how much profit could have been had but very few of the public, for one reason or another, could have got the top price.
HL let most of their clients down, people couldn`t get through on phones or online either.
Some got online but couldn`t get a price etc,.0 -

And if some of the chatter is proved right on shares message boards you may have missed out on another £400!
There are lots of hotheads saying it will be £5.50 on Tuesday.....
If not investing for income..
Set the price you are happy with sell when it reaches that price and forget about it.
I would not be buying at its current price risk vs reward is too high, big risk of losing capital and the potential for dividends not that great.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0 -

They would have had to send an email to every client, given that they wouldn't know who failed to login and who didn't even want to try. Thus some clients who are unaware of the problem would be made aware.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I would guess by Tuesday the "big boys" would have sorted things by then and the price will go the other way, probably on Monday.0 -

Interesting you say that, as seen some expert on the news who released the following statement:
P.J. Davies, head of the Quest analysis group at investment bank Canaccord Genuity Ltd., said his firm agrees that Royal Mail was sharply undervalued. "Our view is that the company is worth 599p a share--that's an 82% upside to its 330p issue price," Mr. Davies said. "We have a buy recommendation on Royal Mail for our institutional clients."0 -
I have to admit to knowing very little about the stock market, but it was interesting to see the price recovering at the close of business yesterday. Wonder if this will repeat on Monday & if its any indication of what might happen on Tues.
£5.99 eh? ..& when it goes to ftse that might rise to £7.0 -

The contrarian in me is screaming, 'Sell, sell, SELL!'0
