Wow that was close....looks like it went thru - HL account has gone up £266.95.....PS
And now need to determine how to get money back out of HL into bank account! is it obvious? (sorry for the dumbas questions - first time share dealing)
Hi well done! That's better than my midday selling price.

It is straightforward on the site. Once you're into your account, click on withdraw and as it takes you through the process it will give you the option of taking your profit too.

Looks like they will put into your bank account as one transaction. Whereas I'd thought it would be Monday, I've realised it won't be until Tuesday when the shares are live.

If you linked a bank account when you created your HL account then you just click on the cash in your portfolio then on withdraw cash and it goes by faster payments.

Be aware though the bank account has to have been linked for at least 5 days before a transfer can take place. And if you change the bank account details it's another 5 days.

Indeed. Nor do they charge an account fee outside of an ISA and other assertions in AndyBSG's post are also wrong.

So please peeps, do check your facts before you post as there are a lot of newbies reading this thread who could be misled.

In all honesty, I think you should probably just walk away while you're ahead. :)

Because trading costs ~£10 a go, £1,000 is probably the smallest amount one ought to buy of a single stock (the smaller the trade, the larger--proportionally--the costs). But a 'portfolio' containing a single stock is far too risky. I don't know what others on here would advise, but a portfolio should probably contain at least ten different stocks to be able to be even remotely diverse...

So, that's £10,000 to start even contemplating trading individual stocks under normal circumstances. (RM shares not really being 'normal' trading.)

So... back to my original sentence: take the money and be thankful you 'won'. ;)

It's good fun and I dipped my toe in after receiving BOGOF shares as a BP employee. After doing research I bought into a building firm, Tilbury, in the early 80s. Knew I was onto a good thing when the stockbroking firm rung me up to ask me to sell them.

However, I have lost money on technology shares. Got in far too late and should have sold much more quickly then I did. You do need to keep a very close eye on the movement of the share price and general trends.

As has been widely reported, those private investors who applied for up to £10,000's worth of shares all received a fixed 227 shares.
