  • £125 from £750 outlay is about 16% isn't it. How can a first direct account compete with that?

    Sorry if this is a stupid question.... but what do people think about whether opportunities to stag and make an instant profit will only be available during conditional trading (and the share price falls by the time unconditional trading starts on the 15th)?

    Because you can get £125 for opening a First Direct bank account - zero risk or outlay involved.

    Nothing to stop people doing that when they sell. Double bonus ;)

    Nobody knows whats going to happen. I hope it stays up beyond the start of unconditional trading, and I suspect it probably will, but it could easily fall. Its a punt if you are looking for a short term profit.
  • I already get £160 a year free from the Halifax which beats First Direct in any case.

    Thanks. Yes, realise it's unknown. Guess I'll hold if need be - I applied prepared to take a risk although was hoping to stag.

    Hi

    I want to cash in any shares I am allocated straight away.

    Is it best to buy from a stockbroaker or direct from the government at applyroyalmailshares.service.gov.uk?

    Bearing in mind I want to sell these shares next week then if I apply at applyroyalmailshares.service.gov.uk then is it best to tick;

    Your shares will be held on your behalf in the Royal Mail Nominee Share Service. If you wish instead to receive a share certificate please tick this box. Information about the Royal Mail Nominee Share Service can be found in the Prospectus.

    or

    Please tick if you wish to receive a paper copy of your Royal Mail Nominee Share Service welcome pack.

    Thanks in advance for any advice.

    I`ve asked around but no one seems to know if you can trade on a "when issued" basis.
    ie: unconditional Friday and Monday.

    If my allocated shares are showing in my dealing account on Friday/Monday then I assume they can be traded on a "when issued" basis.

    At this late hour the best you can do is buy from RM site, let them hold them in a nominee account and then sell through them straight away.
    It will cost a minimum of £17-50 or 1% but at least it`s the fastest way.
