  • I missed the boat on these. Probably due to a distinct lack of trust in anything any politician or government does. Anyone think a few politicians got rich over this?
  • Quite probably Rob.

I wonder if they were Subject to the 749.10 as the rest of us.

  • Jennifer.

You ticked one box for nominee makes me think like me you were selecting the nominee account but actually you were asking for share certificate. The text read along the lines, your shares will be in a nominee account, select this option if you want a share certificate. So in fact the exact opposite of what you wanted. Extremely badly worded.

I got my e-mail, as I posted here, at 09:33 on 15th, so whatever I did, was the thing I had intended to do. I haven't yet sold, was planning to keep them anyway, but I could have sold from 09:33 on 15th.

I may be muddled about boxes or whatever now, but I was not muddled by the wording at the time. I did the right thing and cannot remember any difficult or confusing wording (not disputing that it wasn't badly worded, just that it didn't confuse me at the time).

So, I'm happy with everything. Not a shambles in my book.
  • It is perfectly possible that different people got different versions of the form so there may indeed have been a nominee option for some but not others. Not sure though.

Anyone still waiting on an email that is adamant they asked for nominee account?

Applied through HL but will only get £750. What a waste of my time. Feel absolutely conned.

Yes, only £300 for free (if selling Monday or Tuesday) with all the hassle of hitting a few buttons on a web site. What a rip off.

    Not!
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.
  • This just struck me last night on way to bed. If you inadvertently elected for a share certificate rather than nominee account, would Equiniti not charge you ten pound more for the certificate? I asked for 1k of shares and got the 749.10 like everyone else, so I am owed money which they could reduce, but if I had got my full request, how would the cert be paid for? They did not know I would get less when I requested the shares.

Can someone who definitely asked for a share cert confirm, do they take £10 more when you ask for a cert in order to pay for it?

Sold for £4.75 this morning. I was planning to hold but found myself constantly obsessing over the price when I should've been working.. clearly I'm not cut out for this long-term share investment yet :o
  • £1000 worth of shares applied for.

    £250 refund received this morning.

Still no email. 100% sure I selected that shares be held electronically and not certificated. I am sure of this as I was deliberating which option to go for and double checked the submission.

Phoned Equiniti today - shares are certificated.

If others have also found this, I suspect it may be due to some glitch on the website. e.g. if certificated selected and de-selected it registers as selected anyway. Alternatively, if when you press continue, if something needs changing before you can proceed - like passwords don't match, then certificated is checked as default and would need unchecking again.

This is all pretty hypothetical - but annoying nonetheless.

I would also appreciate any advice about how to proceed now I will be receiving the certificates.

If I decide to hold on to them, do I need to do anything? Will I automatically receive the dividends?
How do I go about transferring them into a stocks and shares ISA? What is the most economical way of selling them?

Apologies if these are basic questions - but everyone has to start somewhere.

    Cheers,
