  • I have been watching this thread for months now and decided it was time to get stuck in.

I am so impressed with everyone's positive attitude and friendliness,

I have £481 of debt to clear ASAP and feel that with some clear goals, and a kick up the behind this can be achieved before Xmas.

So please encourage me as much as possible.

I will post again later with my budget.

    Have a super saturday :)

  • Um Hello...can I play please?
    Total debt [STRIKE]£12,646.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j :T
    Lbm 10/10/12.
  • I'm back with an action plan which I must stick to.....I repeat, I must stick to!! :)

So 20 SFDs should not be too much of a problem (I hope). I'm not a big spender by nature so hopefully this will be achievable.

As I get paid on the 20th of each month I have already paid my debt for Sept - Oct so is will unfortunately have to wait until Octobers payday.

Our monthly food budget is £200 for 2 people so we will aim for £180. This is our weak spot so fingers crossed for this one. We already do a food donation to the local animal shelter weekly so I will make this my donation I that's ok?

We have also perfected the art of eating out so this is going to also be a difficult one but we can do it ;)

I already take lunch to work everyday so this is the norm.

I am hoping my debt free date will be the end of Nov so I can start the New Year with a debt free bang. I've already come along way. My debt 3 years ago was £5,000.

Sorry for the waffle but you'll discover I do a lot of it. Just tell me to be quiet if I get to noisy :rotfl:

    Yep count me.
I did 10 NSD in a row this month (is that the same as a SFD?) So think i can manage them!

We have two days out booked for this month but they are free so we will just need to pack lunches and take a flask of coffee.

I got paid on Thursday so I have already budgeted for the month. This includes fuel, my DDs ballet classes, bills, CC payments and a payment i owed my DH.

Was allowing £150 on food for 4 of us (have a well stocked freezer and store cupboard) but I spent £60 in the supermarket and withdrew £50 for top ups. I have been adding a few tins and things to a box for the food bank anyway so this will continue.

  • Hi, only just found this thread :-) I would like to join please

You will aim for 20 SFD
Planning on getting as much Christmas shopping done this month as possible (and daughters birthday present). I will spend time researching each present for best price and purchase at end of week to achieve nsp. I avoid going into town as i end up spending £20 on nothing. If will take sandwiches when picking dd up from school so we dont call in shop on way home and buy her lunch as ive had half hour of 'im hungry'
    Pay off debt first
Despite expenditures this month and lower maternity pay kicking in I will still pay of £100 off debt
You will create a spreadsheet and budget EVERYTHING
Ill be doing this weekly as not sure whats coming in just yet, with changes in pay etc. (Get paid weekly too). Bit confused. Will be getting a drop in pay, but not sure when. Getting increase in child benefit. plus a couple of other things i dont know whats happening with yet. Not done a spreadsheet yet, so this will be my starting point and put me in stead for next month.
    Get a small spend diary
Will do, this is something i will really benefit from. It will not the small impulse buys i have
Set your food budget now then reduce it by £20
£20 food budget for month!! Got full freezer so only need a few bits. I will achieve if dont pay local shop prices and get oh to pick up on way from town.
Clear out your cupboards of food before buying more
    Will do easily (hopefully)
Out of your allowance £3 of food will be donated to the local food bank I dont have a local food bank? I do raise money each week for charity though, should I up this amount by £3
    Budget for outings
I have a spa day with girlys already paid for, was going to do lunch first but will cook for them instead (will plan once do budget) Hadn't thought of haween, need costumes for kids and free event to take them too. Will get my mse head on. No to everything else.
    No eating out
    Dont anyway.
Bring your lunch to work everyday
n/a as not in work but will take lunch out everyday if go library or park so dont end up getting a sausage roll or pastry
Choose a DFD - a Debt Free Date!
I will be debt free by novenmber 2014
Use up all your beauty products BEFORE getting any more
i do this as a rule anyway, but mainly forget to but once run out lol. May struggle with this one as I but shampoo, conditioner, showergel and bubble bath under this. 5 in household so will have to think on how I will achieve. I do tend to buy products based on price rather than brand anyway, so maybe reducing usage somehow.

Thats my plan, in addition to this. STOP SMOKING.

  • Count me in! I am a newbie and lurked last month... we had our LBM in late August and started really get to work on cutting back in September... Reading your challenge last month inspired and motivated me, so I'll join you this month and see if my money is where my mouth is (well, not literally as hopefully my money is paying off all our horrid cc debts!).
