Here goes first chance to sit down today to get this done.
Our wee family is me, husband, ds 7, dd 3 & cat. Need to get sorted especially in the run up to crimbo.
Debt £13k and the sad thing is that it mostly relates to comfort shopping at Christmas 2009 after a not great year. There was a car in amongst that though. Hopefully clear before 28/4/2015.
I get paid on the 20th so not much spare for debt busting till then.
Not sure if I can count today as SFD as had to 'borrow' Oct money for weekly shop & Halloween costumes yesterday.
Food £68.84/£280 (never manage to stick to any sort of budget here but I can do this)
Petrol & travel £75
Misc £ 22.50/£200 (includes halloween, October week with kids off & my half of Disney on Ice tickets & Commonwealth Games tickets & various kids activities swimming lessons due on Fri)
Toiletries £10 (will need moisturiser might try to see if my Mum has some free samples stashed to see me through.)
Charity £3 saw a food bank at local Morrisons think it'll be good to get kids involved.
Phew! Haven't worked out how to put on a footer yet.NOvember #44

Yikes, am I too late? Still on holiday (home in a few days) and haven't been on the boards at all! My holiday has all come in within budget and today I transferred the money to pay it ALL off (by the skin of my teeth I hasten to add, but there is no financial hangover to pay!
My money shuffle was done on payday and my budgets are all in place (yes, I reduced my food budget after reading the rules)
Hugs to you all, hoping I can join you when I get back xx0 -
Been to garage and put my £40 worth in. Bought fresh veg and pet food out of budget. Decided not to go out for family meal today so saved myself £6.00. ( I usually pick my elderly Mum up and take her to meet the rest of the family for a carvery). Nothing else to report as yet but feeling very confident and pleased with myself that I've started this.NSK Zombie # SFD 7/15 Food Bank £0/£5

Quick question NSK, I get paid on 25th of each month so have already done October's biggest food shop and buying of animal food. Shall I include this in my Oct totals? I know the challenge is supposed to be 1st to 31st. Or shall I wait until I do a big shop again at the end of Oct and include this?
Make it part of October... as long as it's payday to payday it's fine. It's hard to maneovre the challenges according to everyones payday though - but yes count it as October..“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. One thing I could learn though is to cook more for the freezer. But my downfall is buying fresh fruit, rolls and cold cuts especially for the weekends. But I take that on board and will make a large chilli tonight that I then can also use in lasagne, and on pasta. Now that winter is upon us I will also make more beef stews etc that can go in the freezer and should save money. Thanks
I divide chilli into tubs and freeze and use for different things, I also save some chilli to make enchiladas with and chilli chessecake (with is tortilla, layer off chilli, layer of chesse and repeat), jacket potato with chilli and chilli sheperads pie ;-) sometimes i make meatballs for pasta too. Gives a little variance. I do manage too get a lot out a portion of mince, mainly down too portion control. I use too cook far too much and throw away!! Now ive changed my evil ways.
Nothing wrong with buying rolls and cold cuts as long as you eat it! I was always throwing ham etc away. Now i use everything, i let my head do the meals rather than my belly now!!Debt Remaing £315 :jBreath out the past, Breath in the futureBig Dreams Start Small0 -

First time I've seen this thread but I love the idea of a fresh start for October! The rules are great - particularly the one about donating to the foodbank as I've been wanting to do this for ages.Mortgage - £105,5000
