  • Seems like even BT Basic customers are now paying for 'free' BT Sport. Pretty disgraceful.

I've asked this before and was told I could get my broadband interrupted, but thought I'd air it again as I believe I've only had hypothetical (but well thought out) replies rather than hearing from anyone who'd done it.

If I move my line rental from BT to Primus, will my Sky/O2 broadband end up being disconnnected and need a reconnection fee? Or can I move my line rental and my BB will be OK?

I'm presuming postoffice is no longer an option to receive my homephone custom as they have signed a pact with the talktalk devil.
  • Has anyone tried called the BT Basics help number recently..what a nightmare.!!!!
Use to call and directly speak to an advisor, not anymore. You have to say why you are calling and it doesn't seem to recognise BT Basics. Then after waiting in a queue for 15 minutes I spoke to an Indian lady who said this was billing and she then connected me to a nice UK based lady who was very helpful, but what a pantomime
    The number I called was 0800 800864

So for those who have paid Line Rental Saver in advance, and might have up to 12 months to run, to qualify for the free caller display, do we have to have yet another 12 month extension to our contracts?

    Good Question.

I would like to ditch the 1571 on 2 BT lines that I have.

But I still need the Caller Display.
I've already (this september) paid for 12 months in advance for both lines. 1 line is on weekends only, and 1 line is on anytime - now going up to £5.50 a month.

So in effect, I only have to cancel 1571, and opt for the free 12 months caller display. When would one need to opt in? Is it on the actual day the new prices come into force, like 4th Jan, or before?

    EDIT:

Here is the link to pre-register for free caller display 12 months as long as you do it before 6th Dec. But it WILL tie you into another 12 months, so it would be an idea to pay line rental in advance around this date to avoid much of the overlap.

But you can only renew Line Rental Saver 27 days in advance, so is it possible to start another 12 month contract partly through the original 12 month one?

Line saver isn't actually a contract extension, just a discounted means of paying the bill.

They do want a contract extension to waive the privacy charge.
  • Free caller display in return for tying yourself to BT for another 12 months? Doesn't sound a fantastic incentive to be honest.

Maybe BT don't call it a twelve months contract, but as you are paying 12 months in advance, have you ever tried getting money back off BT

Indeed they do, along with the 12 month contract I agreed to last week for takin up the "NEW FREE EVENINGS AND WEEKEND PLAN"

So in January I get another 12 months added when they gave me the new privacy at home.....

I can see some persuasive threats about different companies in February when it's time to renew my line saver rental.... Unless they bring all these 12 month contracts in line to start in February!
