This matter still drags along - the matter has now been referred to David Salters from Belfast city council - I've no idea who this is.
Funny story in relation to the area - a grass verge was strewn with rubbish, the council arrived out at the weekend to cut it and mowed the rubbish as well as the grass. What we now have is a grass verge strewn with loose grass mixed with mutilated rubbish - as frustrated as I am I had to laugh at this.0 -
Go to local paper, tell them the story, take photos, SHAME THEM !! Bl00dy typical passing the buck !!0

I should warm hands, the email trail continues with the below arriving this morning:
Just to let you know my office has spoken again with David Salters from Belfast City Council with your concerns. Presently they are working on the various issues and will forward a response to my office in due course.
I will be in touch once I receive their response.0 -
It's bl00dy ridiculous that in this day and age when essentially all these bl00dy bodies are publically funded that they can't just get on and do it..... It's still the bl00dy tax payer paying for it in the end, all this is doing is keeping pen pushers in jobs rather than just getting the issue sorted.
Keep us informed0 -
Will do Warm Hands, I voiced my concerns via email this morning to the MLA but she does seem powerless to help.0

A small amount of progress, the council have installed a bin in the offending area but it's still beyond them to actually remove the litter. I got the following response from the local MLA:
1. The area around a mobile unitsituated on the footpath at the bottom of offending area.
A new mobile unit hasbeen dropped at this area, I checked with the Road’s Service they state that this unit has beendropped onto private property and they cannot enforce its removal. The areabeside this property private property which is overgrown with weeds and byres etc. As this property is notdetrimental to public health we cannot force the owner to clear the weeds underthe Clean Neighbourhoods legislation.
2. Offending Area itself.
Offending area is cleansed by aLarge Mechanical Sweeper on a Tuesday and the pavements on offending area arecleansed by a Cleansing Operative on a Wednesday. This meets BCC ‘S CustomerService Standard’s. In addition to this I have ordered a new free standinglitterbin to be placed at the bottom of the offending area on the pavement between thePublic Bar and the bookmakers. This should reduce the amount of discardedbookies dockets and cigarettes end’s from these premises. Our CommunityAwareness section is also going to visit these two premises to explain andpromote BCC’S ‘ No Smoke without Litter campaign’.
3. A disused area with a metal fenceat the offending area, this has bill boards displayed and also large amounts of heavyrubbish that will perhaps require a lorry to remove?
This area belongs to the NorthernIreland Housing Executive and the rubbish has been reported to them to arrangeclearance.
4. The bus shelter beside the offending area.
On inspection I could see nolitter issues at the Bus-stop the land opposite is private property and whilstslightly overgrown with weeds is not detrimental to public health under theClean Neighbour hoods legislation.
5. The Public Bar at the bottom of offending area.
See Point 2
I hope this answers your constituent query If I can be offurther assistance then please do not hesitate to contact me.

I met with the BCC Cleansing Area Manager yesterday evening, it appears that many of the problem areas in the city won't be touched by the council due to (a) Health and Safety (b) Land belonging to Transling and (c) Private property.
I flagged a forest on the Shore road as well as a green area coming off the Shore road opposite KFC, both area despite being in public areas belong to Transling and are known "problem spots".
Not a satisfactory meeting I must say.0 -
