Contacting NI Politicians

Good Morning All,
I have to say during my brief stint as a poster on MSE I've really enjoyed my time here and feel the NI section to be perhaps the best area on the site.
My question today is has anyone had any success in relation to contacting their local politicians on constituency matters and if so what was the request and outcome?
It would be very interesting to hear how well our elected representatives are working for us?
I have just emailed a local MLA due to the area I live at just outside of Belfast being littered with rubbish and other various objects and has been for weeks now. It will actually take a fair bit of time and resources to get it back into shape but it's a disgrace that no attempt has been made in weeks. I will post the outcome.
Thank you.

Well I did a similar thing a few years ago, Reporting Rubbish that is, but it was to my Local Council. First reply from Mrs A at the council was that it would be looked into, second was it was not rubbish but fly tipping therefore not their area and I was to contact Mr B @ Department X. Mr B got back to me to say no it should be the council and to get back onto them....... Mrs A was adamant it wasn't their department....... So I e-mailed both together cc'ing in my local MLA and Councillors (Yes all of them) and stated, I don't care who's department it is but could someone please kindly extract the digit and do something about it - OK not quite those terms but not far off it !!! 1 week later it was cleared !! No idea who sorted it but it was done..... oh and not a single reply from anyone though !! Strange !!0

I had the same experienc as Cold Heart but without the successful outcome. An area was overrun with rubbish, I contacted my MLA - from then I was copied into various emails to the council etc. A senior figure within the council got back to the MLA advising that my area was not being neglected as a new park bench had recently been installed (this was true). I reverted back several times advising that this was not the issue and no response was ever given and task was not carried out.0

I've contacted MLA's and councilors. I've always had a reply and Nelson McCausland did sterling work for me on one issue which I'm very grateful for.
The only one who didn't reply was the current secretary of state.0 -
I have had to contact Anna lo .I did get a reply from her office ,and she or her staff did look into the problem and got things moving .
They did a follow up to see it my problem was resolved and if I needed any more help ."Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many"0 -

It's Monday afternoon and I still haven't received a response from the email I sent on Friday morning, does it usually take this long?0

If you get a response in anything less than 2 weeks, you're doing well from my experience, with ONE exception I have to say. I contacted Road Service about a block road drain in front of our house recently and they contacted me that day to ask if we could make sure no-one parked over the drain the next day and true to their word they were out and had it cleared that next day....... :T:T0 -

Funny that: I contacted the Roads Service a month ago and they've yet to reply.0
