Thanks again everyone.
Yay!
Have an amazing time, have lots of fun, try not to get up too early
and leave speed dial to mum and MSE webpage firmly off! Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Hi all
Well I just thought i'd update you, we're on the train on our way home after a lovely couple of days whilst DS stayed with his grandparents.
We had an agreement that my mum would text us each morning after he got up to let us know how he slept and again at night after they had put him to bed to let us know how he had been during the day.
As much as we've both missed him, it has been lovely to have some quality time with the hubby.
We held hands, we laughed, we were childish, it was like being teenagers again and we remembered what it was that first attracted us to each other.
And to round off a great couple of days my mum is cooking all the family dinner for when we get back.
So thank you for the positive messages, I don't generally base my decisions on the opinions of strangers but sometimes you just need that bit of encouragement and to know that you're not a bad parent for having some timeout.0 -
Glad you had a good time. It was probably really beneficial for the grandparent/grandchild bond too. My mum and stepdad left my little brother with me for a week when he was 11 months (I was 18 at the time - big age gap!) and the only negative thing about it was that they missed his first steps. They had a really good holiday (honeymoon, in fact) and my brother and I had a fantastic time. I really treasured that time, and he and I are still incredibly close, so I think you should never feel badly about taking some time "off", especially when it gives other family members time to bond. :-)0

Having some time out and enjoying quality couple time makes you both good parents. I am really glad you both had a lovely break. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0 -

Thanks all, it's really nice how you've taken the time out to read my update!
My dad picked us up from the station with ds, we couldn't wait to see him, had he missed us, not at all!! He was more interested in showing us the dickie bird he could see! Anyway he's now tucked up in his own bed and tomorrow we're taking him to.see the Christmas lights being switched on.0 -
That' so lovely to hear. Thanks for taking the trouble to update us.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0

One of the toddlers we looked after to give parents Mr and Mrs time burst into tears when his parents came through our door! He was having so much fun playing with our kids he didn't want to go home with them!!!!!!
Glad you had a great time

Hurrah! I hope you were suitably admiring of his preferred bird (Of The Moment!)?
There may be an odd moment somewhere tomorrow as he wonders where the grandparents are, but hey, lights!
Well done *all* of you, having a good time!0
