I'm on Flexible hours with core hours I must work and 30mins to 2 hours for lunch so hours I work really vary from day to day but I generally am in and out early to beat the rush hour. Also take regular short breaks.0

5 minute commute
9.30am - 3.30pm
Don't smoke or drink tea/coffee so not bothered about breaks. I don't like eating at work so lunchtime is not important either. If I want a break or a skive, I just pop into this forum for a while.0 -
contract 40 hours, work all over, but in HO say 2 days a week which is 1 hr away, tend to do 745am-615pm there, and dont take a proper break, but I could do, and we have a nice canteen but I tend to eat at desk.
The other days i either work from home and do 9am-6pm or am visiting sites etc when day can be anything from 8am-8pm although not all the hours in between, stay away midweek a couple of times a month
No one clock watching though, that's the best bit, total autonomy to my working week0 -

Contract is for 42 hours a week and I tend to do 07:00 to 16:00 with half hour for lunch. Also have coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon, as and when.0

Apart from lunch break, any time I want tea/coffee - we have kitchens on each floor (big office building). Out for a bit even if people like to go for "fresh air".
Nobody checks anyone's arriving/leaving times and/or breaks.
Even though we don't clock in/out for breaks I'm sure it would get noticed if someone regularly took 2 hr lunch breaks or something like that.0 -

I work in London, takes me just over an hour each way to/from work so not bad.

It is first time I work in a place like that and I know how lucky I am here so wondering about everyone else?
Sounds almost exactly the same as my situation, and likewise I find it somewhat uncomfortable. I'm used to someone monitoring me. The general rule is 'be in by 10, don't leave till 4'. It is nice as I commute so it takes the pressure off as if the train is delayed I know I won't be sacked.
I occasionally go and sit in a quite corner (huge building) I been asked once where I was, just told her and never been asked again. It's all about results, she doesn't really care where or what I'm doing to get them.0 -
I'm agency at the mo, contracted to work 37 hours a week, do more like 47 hours easily, don't get overtime, can't get TOIL, eat sandwich at desk, no chance of a dinner half hour or hour, no breaks either. I don't smoke.
Example yesterday I finished at 6.30pm, supposed to finish at 4pm on a friday.
No perks, nothing provided in terms of comfort e.g. food. However there's free parking which is a bonus and its an hours commute either way.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

Why no break and no overtime? Very oddWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
