How many hourse per day/work do you work? Breaks?

Just curious about everyone else?

I work in London, takes me just over an hour each way to/from work so not bad.

Working hours 09:30 - 17:30 but flexible (can work say 8:00-16:00 or 10:00 - 18:00 if I need to), 1 hour lunch break so really working 35 hours per week, 7 hours per day.

Apart from lunch break, any time I want tea/coffee - we have kitchens on each floor (big office building). Out for a bit even if people like to go for "fresh air".

Nobody checks anyone's arriving/leaving times and/or breaks. People are happy, smiling - sometimes feels unreal (to compare to where I was working so far).

It is first time I work in a place like that and I know how lucky I am here so wondering about everyone else?

I have always worked 9-5 and one hour lunch. No tea breaks but you could get a drink and not really be away from your desk for more than a few minutes as the kitchen (well when I say kitchen it was a sink and a kettle) was in our office.

Not allowed at all under any circumstances to leave the office unless you are on a lunch break. Would probably get a warning if you did.

I'm very lucky to work in a relaxed business. My contracted hours are 8.30-5.30, with an hour for lunch. However, I rarely stick to it! If I'm a few minutes late nobody minds as traffic can be crazy, but I'll often come in at 8 if I've got a lot on.

Sometimes I'll take a full hour for lunch at some point between 12 and 2, sometimes I'll just work right through, often take only 40 minutes to sit away from my desk. We're free to get up, have a chat, make some tea, get some breakfast. If we're starving we can pop out to the shop during the morning/afternoon (as long as we bring back milk, we're always running out).

If we need to leave early, come late because of appointments, that's okay. We're in the building trade so a lot of us have to go out to meeting too, so we're all flexible. Almost all the staff will on occasions work late, or work at the weekend. It's a rare thing I get off before 6pm, but I prefer working after 5.30 anyway as the phones are put over to the night service, so it's quiet.

We're lucky - our boss knows we all work hard, he works very hard himself so as long as it gets done, he doesn't mind. We're filling his pockets! We respect him and visa versa, so we don't take liberties either.

Writing this all out makes me realise how much I love my job, and how lucky I am to work here!

I work 3 mins away from home

I work 10 - 5 or 5 - 10. However it's pretty normal to add a couple of hours to each shift and if someone goes sick it's 10-close

We don't get breaks We grab a cold drink on the hoof and smokers take advantage of a lull to pop out for a quick smoke. There is no where to sit and eat or take the weight off for 5 mins unless the back door step counts

To be fair I'm a cook so eating times are when we are busiest and I often go three or four days without more then a slice of toast

But then I love my work so I'm not complaining

I work in payroll and my contracted hours are 35 per week however there's at least an hours journey each way if not longer when the traffic is bad/trains get cancelled.

We have flexible times so I can start as late at 10am and finish no later than 6pm. My friends often ask why I don't start earlier but I know I would stay past my 7 hours for the day if I did. I do get paid overtime which is a plus and the salary I'm on is nothing like I'd get nearer home (talking at least £6k less).

At the minute I'm on a phased return yet managed to rack up 12 hours overtime from going on a training course in Nottingham last week and commuting both days :wall::wall:

ETA As I'm trying to save money I take my lunch with me and only have 20 minutes break a day which is a couple of extra cigarette breaks.

Usually do 8:30 - 4:30 with a half hour lunch. If you eat at your desk that half an hour is usually 30 minutes away from your desk and then eating it at your desk but if you eat away from your desk you normally just have 30 minutes
Can take a short morning and afternoon break if wanted

Indeed - one break of twenty minutes is the statutory minimum

Two of a lesser time don't compensate for that.
