iPad update to iOS 7.0

I have just updated to iOS 7.0 as recommended, but I don't like it!

I have previously viewed everything "landscape" and now it's all coming up "portrait". The keyboard is tiny as a consequence.

Despite looking at the settings I am unable to change this.

Can anyone help?

Open the control centre by swiping up from the home button.
There are a series of switches on it, but the furthest right if the middle five is orientation lock. Press that so it goes grey.
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Has the orientation lock switch on the side of the iPad been disabled by iOS7 ... ?

Were you hoping to make it waterproof? ;)

A friend who transgraded now manages to cut me off when I call and he's on the other line, apparently the new icon for 'drop incoming' is almost the same as the old one for 'switch lines'.

    No, they all have.

It's the slider switch above the volume buttons. You can set it as a mute control, or you can change it in the Settings to be the orientation lock

It's like that on my iPhone. But on my iPad that button is for mute.

That will be because you've configured the side button on your iPad to Lock Rotation.

Go into the Settings, then General. If you change the Side Switch option to Mute, then the Control Centre switch will become Rotation Lock. If the Side Switch is for Rotation, then the Control Centre switch changes to Mute. (it's quite clever when you think about it)
