Concert at Wembley

HI

I hope this is the right place to post. I've got tickets to take my 1D obsessed daughter to Wembley Stadium for a concert next year as a combined Christmas/birthday present. Can anyone tell me the best way to get there and back - I have never been to a gig in a big venue and have no idea what to expect. The concert is on a Sunday 6th Jun at 5pm. I have no idea what time it will finish, which is part of the problem as we have to get back in time for school next morning. Should I drive (and if so where should I park, happy to drive in London but have no idea where to park) or take the train - last poss train for us is about 11pm out of Victoria, or book a coach which would pick up/drop off about an hour from home? Will have tired and excited 9 yr old, who will cope with one late night this once, with me. Can anyone who has done this before offer any advice please? It seemed like a good idea when I booked........

Thank you so much

I find organised coach is easiest. Try local newspaper readers trips, or national express. Both tend to have coaches going to gigs at wembley and pickup points are in most towns. Also means kids can sleep on way home

It cost £20 to park at wembley, so ive never found driving worth it unless you have a full car chipping in to cover costs

I've not been to Wembley Stadium, but I've got a 10 year old and quite honestly I don't think you will be able to get her out of bed the next morning for school, whatever your good intentions, so considering this is a one-off treat I wouldn't even bother worrying about it (but tell her not to make a big fuss about going beforehand at school ...).

Also, remember that it is going to be a nightmare just getting away from the stadium when everyone comes out at the same time, so you might have to leave early to try to get a train at 11pm, which seems like a shame.

Concert starts at 5pm, so would think they shoud be well on their way home by 11pm

it depends on where you are coming from but if coming down the M1 park up at Stanmore tube station's large car park which would cost £1.50 on Sunday and it is only a few stops from there to Wembley Park (10 min journey) which has a walkway down to the stadium. Traffic is always really bad in the area around Wembley after and before a big stadium event, with barriers down over local residential roads and parking expensive so you really want to avoid that area. Children aged 10 and under travel free on tubes, just follow you through the pushchair lugguage barrier.

Wembley Stadium is in a residential area and I seem to remember reading that there is a curfew of 10.30pm. If the concert goes on until 10.30pm you will be cutting it fine trying to get the last train at 11pm from Victoria.as it would be about an hours journey approx to there from the Stadium using public transport.

But that might be for the support acts - remember all the fuss about Justin Bieber earlier this year? He said he wasn't due on stage until 9.30, so the concert wouldn't have finished before 10.30, which would be too late to catch an 11pm train.

You are probably right as I can't see the support acts being more than an hour or so and then say a 30-40 mins wait, so probably the main band will go on at 7pm at the latest and do 90 mins to 2 hour set so probably be over by 9pm.

Even with support acts a show is no more than 4hrs.

JB concert was standard show timings, ie support acts on at 7.30ish, so no i wouldnt expect the show to finish before 10pm, even if he was on time. 1d support acts are on at 5pm. Much more realistic time, for their fan base

OP, there is a MacDonalds in a small trading estate just off the walkway down from the tube station to the stadium. Food and drink is very expensive in the Stadium. Also if taking water in take the lids off and put them in your pocket or take spare lids in your pocket as they will take them off you on the way in. Also buy One direction T shirts, hats, scarves in advance as they will be really expensive at the venue.
  • Is it "concert starts at 5" or "doors open at 5". Gigs I've been to at Wembley stadium have rarely finished before 10, although admittedly I've never been to see a group like 1D. One thing to remember is that Wembley is an utter nightmare to get out of, particularly if you're trying to get the tube anywhere. You can sometimes easily add another hour on just to get to Wembley Park tube station.

I'm not 100% sure that this relates to the right concert but this is what I found on the ticketmaster website
