We have 2 young children, and are thinking of what we can do in the evenings after they've gone to bed (7pm latest) as a couple rather than watch TV.
I'm wondering if people have ideas of hobbies/interests that we can both involve ourselves in. Ideally nothing involving 'a screen' (e.g. computer games, internet research etc)

Well, I don't want to state the obvious...;)0

"Film" making? :whistle:0

why not try Baking?0

I'll ignore the 'expected' remarks..
Wife doesn't want to do baking as she's worried about getting fat (and it wouldn't happen, i'd eat all the cakes and get fatter)
I suggested starting a business, but she doesn't seem keen0 -
If I remember rightly, when my two had bedtimes that early we just indulged in some non-competitive sitting with occassional wine tasting.0

As a couple is a little more difficult as you are likely to have different interests. But you could bot individually get into making different things, but do it at the same time - mosaic making/model making/sewing/whittling:D
Or challenges: make a kite from items you already have in the house - not allowed to buy anything extra.
Or you could both sit down and make a years supply of cards.
There's always jigsaws, lol.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Its a bit difficult to answer, we don't know you we don't know what you like or what you're interested in or what you enjoy.
Is there nothing you've always had at the back of your mind? Do you want a new skill or just to pass the time?0 -
Learn a language together (and then plan a trip so you can use it)?
Board games?
Cook together - not baking but making a nice meal together (feed the kids first), maybe trying out different cuisines?0 -
It's just to pass the time really, so life is more interesting than Work/look after kids -> Eat -> Watch TV
The kids have been so intensive for 4 years that we've pretty much dedicated ourselves to their care.. now it feels odd. Before kids, i did use to Cycle and had an interest in Photography, but my wife has never had hobbies or interests.
I guess I was more interested in knowing what other people did0 -
We rarely have the TV on to be honest, unless we're watching a film. We're more inclined to make a cuppa and sit and chill with a good CD on
Board games an option. Monopoly can take hours!
Would suggest the same as lika - cooking your meal rather than baking sweeter stuff. Love trying out new dishes with OH!
Do you want to be doing stuff together? Or are you happy both doing your own thing? Or a bit of both?
EDIT:
Just x-posted!
Take up photography again!
OH does weight training regularly and has built himself a wee gym out the back! I'll (sometimes!) get out a workout DVD while he's doing that, or else go out for a walk/run, weather permitting.Wealth is what you're left with when all your money runs out0
