What a lot of reassuring stories! I'm so relieved I don't know how my daughter would cope but I am more hopeful now :)

It's worth contacting Homestart, they are an organisation who provide temporary support to families with at least one child under 5:

    http://www.home-start.org.uk/findsupport/

They're not in all areas, but search under http://www.home-start.org.uk/findsupport/search to see who to contact in your area.
Another vote for HomeStart, also contact your HV and ask if she is aware of any college / HV / nursing students who need a placement or additional experience.

  • Hannahxxx,

So glad to hear that you are under consultant care, I've read so many horror stories about people getting told to get on with things and that it's just morning sickness, soul destroying when you are actually so unwell. It's so good that you are positive.

There is also pregnancy sickness support which I found very supportive. How are you feeling today? X

  • I am ok thank u. I have contacted the consultant privately again today as I have exhausted all nhs avenues excellent that they are. I am hopeful for a change of meds there is a trial drug which I could have. The bleeding is continuing so I am working very hard to get a treatment plan that is safe for my pregnancy. As long as there is a heartbeat I will fight for the best care.
I am starting to realise that he will have to keep that job and although I will b on my own from 2pm till 10 pm I will just have to manage.

Now that the nights are drawing in could you perhaps alter you little one's bed time so that he goes to bed earlier, cutting down on the time you're alone with him? If you could get him in bed by 6-6-6.30 you'll have a good few hours to yourself in the evening, and OH can get up a little earlier in the morning to help you to then too.

I am on cyclizine ranitidine and steroids I am under a consultant they alow me to drink water and a little lucozade my keystones are plus 4 but because I can drink small amounts I am considerd ok :)

I was on cyclazine hydrochloride with both my pregnancies. It didn't stop the sickness completely, but it did allow me to get through the day.

I couldn't drink water at all for the entire 9 months of both pregnancies. It was too thin iyswim. If you struggle with water, try something else. Even just a sip of water was enough to make me heave.

Please keep hydrated. I was on a drip with my first pregnancy (they put 5 litres in to me before I even started to feel better, as I'd not kept anything down for a week), and nearly hospitalised with the second.

As someone else said, try a local church, they are usually a mine of helpful people who would love to come and help you.

I hope you feel a bit better soon x

  • Hi Hannah

I would agree with everyone else really. I think your husband leaving his job really has to be the absolute last resort. I know if I was in your position, for me the financial strain would just add to an already stressful situation.

Hope you manage to find a way around it

    Good luck x
  • I got admitted for iv fluids I am reading everyone's posts when I can and have noted that I need to keep hydrated I now realise he must keep that job. Interesting point about the water being to thin thank u

I find that, even with normal sickness, it just seems to slosh around a bit and come straight back.

Do you think you would be able to tolerate milkshakes in little sips? They tend to be a bit more viscose and have the added benefit of getting a bit of sugar in you for energy.

The hyperemisis continues. I have tried so many medications now.
I have given up and started to eat a little with the idea that although it comes straight back up my body must absorb something.
He is going to. Work tomorrow I have found someone to do the school run so as long as I have a sick bowl handy I should be fine :)
