Welcome Icka!
I get most/all of my clothes from ebay - my rule is never spend more than a tenner on any item. I have the most fabulous designer suits, smart blouses, shoes - the lot. nearly all of it is brand new with tags - but tbh - I'm not that fussy. People often comment that I must spend a fortune on clothes.
I started when I was completely skint - although initially it was second hand shops. Ebay is so much better - and I now do it because it's better value, not only because I need to.
Hairdressing colleges are good - very well supervised.
good luck on your MSE journey

THis place rocks, the people on here helped me through a total nightmare, not financially realted and gave me the strength to get through something so horrible.

Just like to second this - I only buy from second hand shops, eBay, and the odd thing from Primark/ Matalan/ Asda, occasionally TK Maxx. Had lots of comments about things I wear, I don't have to be ultra-smart at work but do have to be reasonably 'officy' dressed - I've got two or three suit jackets which match various skirts and dresses (one of my favourite items ever is a dark grey shift dress which was £2 from a Salvation Army shop - they're particularly good for cheap things if you've got one near you!). As well as getting things cheap you also don't look like a clone of everyone else who's wearing whatever's in the high street at the moment!
Anyway, welcome, well done and good luck with the job.. and keep posting! :beer:Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
I am a PA to a Director and most of my clothes come from charity shops. I have a lovely Anne Brooks suit which I paid £5 for and then last week I found an Anne Brooks trouser suit for £4! These things retail for over £100 in Debenhams. I love to go on trips out and find 'affluent' areas (i.e. Solihull nr Brum or Worcester) where the charity shops are full of designer and good quality stuff. It's now got to be a habit with me and it's good fun.We finally did it! Debt free 28/6/10 :T  :T :beer:0
