Such a precious thread. Does your son have no sports tops? He seems a bit soft if this shocks him.

When I went to uni everyone had either a sports or gaa top. Ive still got a few and like wearing them outside a work. They are comfortable.

What next a thread on Uni students wearing trainers when they cant wear them at work!!??!?!

I wear trainers at work... in fact I normally just sit in my socks.

I think a lot of people on this thread are equating university with school, or with formal education. It isn't. Universities are private enterprises and their students are adult customers. If someone gets offended by a GAA shirt, or a Rangers shirt, or a flag, then I suggest they are the ones with the problem.

If you've seen many of them I wouldn't describe them as Adult !! :rotfl:
  • Agreed. Do they not teach the green Cross Code any more in schools?

Driving along Botanic of an evening on my way home from work is back to the "dodge the student" obstacle course that exists in Uni term time.

Soon it will be dark by 6pm and they will still walk straight out in front of cars while almost invisible in dark clothing and be amazed when a driver has to do an emergency stop to avoid hitting them.

Agree with the above and check out the Abbey centre around closing time - saturated with gangs of youths - such a miserable existence hanging around outside of a closed shopping centre.

What do you mean "precious"? Is the woman not allowed to make an observation?

People here are too thin skinned.

Right............ we obviously play the same game so we should at least have a points system going here.

0 Points for standard stop. even if you give the student abuse from the car eg, the finger(s) or a general rant

1 Point for a good hefty horn toot. Bonus half point for abuse of said student (See Above)

2 Points for a horn toot and an emergency stop.... Emergency stop MUST involve wheel screeching.... again Bonus half point for abuse of said student (Again See Above)

3 Points if Bumper (or any other part of your vehicle) nudges Student (Doesn't matter how this happens, standard or emergency stop, still just 3 points.)

4 Points if Bumper (or any other part of your vehicle) nudges Student and knocks them over (Again doesn't matter how this happens, standard or emergency stop, still just 4 points.)

5 Points if Bumper (or any other part of your vehicle) nudges Student and knocks them over and Blood is drawn (Again doesn't matter how this happens, standard or emergency stop, still just 5 points.)

10 Points if Student is Hospitalised (Bonus 10 if it's a Queens Student !!)

I actually had an issue recently driving into Belfast - I was driving on a dual lane (left hand side), a driver on the right just a fraction ahead of me decided it was his given right to indicate and cut in front of me even though we were almost level. When he realised I was to close to him he hung back and sounded his horn - I'm still not sure if I was in the right or not.
  • How did this get from GAA football shirts to Belfast driving mishaps?

Speaking of mishaps I was in a shop recently in which the Manager slipped on a grape on the floor - I wish that was a joke. :)
