    hi everyone,
Had an awful day! took my lovely wedding dress and 2 x coast dresses that my daughter and stepdaughter wore as bridesmaids dresses (cost £185 each) for dry leaning last week. Went to collect them today, and after checking found black stain all over the inside of my daughters dress, completely ruined! the lady in the shop was rude, said it was my fault as a tag must have caused it (no tag to be seen). i was really upset, she demanded payment for my dress and the other undamaged dress so i could take them, and reluctantly said she would "have a go" at sorting the other! im gutted, those dresses were gorgeous, and i was going to sell them and give the girls the cash as a treat. Now i just dont know what to do!

so upset at this rude woman, who was going to let me leave with the dresses without even letting me know the damage she had done, it was only by chance i even checked that dress! she then proceeded to get money for other dresses by saying the owner would go mad if she let me take the other dresses without paying, only after i said i was going to small claims court and wanted name and address of owner, did she then admit she was "part owner"!
god, is there no where with good customer service anymore!

God she sounds horrible- can you lodge a complaint with her manager? Or is she the owner of the whole place?

Sorry about your bad news. I'd be tempted to write to your local paper if she was so rude. Whatever happened to the customer being right? Threaten to name and shame!

That is awful customer service. If she had been a clueless employee it would be bad enough but to be the owner and not only lack the integrity to admit to the problem but to to lie about who she was to get money. Really really shocking and not to be trusted. If that dress is not spotless I suggest you ask to be reimbursed for the cost of the dress or at least the resale value. If she refuses then small claims it is.

Thank you guys, im still really upset about this. Ive decided to call Monday, if the dress isnt back to the condition it was in when i took it, im asking for the cost of a new dress, otherwise i will take it to small claims , and local paper if she is as rude again. I cant believe people like this own and run small businesses!

I think if it went to court the judge would look at a second hand dress as not being worth as much as a new dress, but I would start out asking for the full amount and be prepared to settle for a bit less if they offer.
Hopefully the other owner maybe in and be easier to discuss things with.

Or maybe they will have got the stain out. Although most places don't actually clean the stuff themselves, it is sent out to a factory type place and returned to them.

    Good Luck

    happy Monday!

collected dress today, they managed to remove the black marks thank goodness. Wont be using them again regardless!

Had a bit of a cr*p week last week with one thing or another causing stress, determined to try and relax this week, and take things in my stride. Poor hubby fed up with work at mo which doesnt help..

On a happier note, we look like all savings targets will be met this month, just keeping fingers crossed we can make at least same as last months overpayment to the mortgage as well !

Still not completed xmas shopping! really must sit down with hubby in next few days and complete gift buying. Not going crazy, just a few small inexpensive gifts for close family only..

Pay days next week, looking forward to the savings update!

:j Hi every one, a new week, and its hubby and my pay week.. Ive been doing calculations, and with overtime we have both done, we should be able to make a decent mortgage overpayment, as well as make all savings targets!..

Its been a tough month, i think shorter dark miserable drizzly days always get to me..

Had a lovely long walk yesterday, cant wait till we can move to our rural forever home, our dream is to walk out into countryside without packing the dog into the car first.

oh well, it will be worth the wait and hard work..

    Hello every one!

Updating my figures as i start month 3 of my challenge.

I have made my monthly savings targets-
    £736 to mortgage free fund-
    £250 to emergency fund
    £ 125 kitchen/diy fund
    £140 horse fund
    £183 hubbys car fund
total savings for this month= £1434!:j

we have managed a massive £429.53 mortgage overpayment also:beer:

we are proud of our efforts, we have put in some overtime this month to achieve our targets, as well as being frugal, and watching the pennies!

today we went for a long walk, and saw a cottage with small yard/stable/paddock/workshop, just what we are aiming for at the end of our challenge. Seeing it spurs me on, the house of our dreams is out there somewhere!
