We decided to hire the macine lift to help make doing the stonework easier , so 2 weeks hire. It has arrived this morning, wrong size machine that wont fit in the workshop. Called plant hire company, closed till monday!! arggghh
And to add to the joy, its pi**ing down with rain again too!!

    Must keep positive..

Ive done loads of overtime this week, which though i dont et paid, i can use the hours for days off in lieu, so i have 3 days holidays extra accrued, which will come in handy ...

Pay day for us both next friday, then we break up for a week, fingers crossed for a good week to allow us to get this bl**dy roof completed! :)

Not a lot happenning financially, ive kept to the foodbugdet and meal plan, which will help. I will be getting super frugal after this month and roof done, to pay back extra roof costs, and i want also to bring our overpayments to date to £6000 by xmas eve.. lets see..

Nearly the weekend, then we are off for 10 days :j

The machine was swapped today, we made use of the big one, hubby fixed the flashing on top of the half of the roof we have already done, and sorted a bit of stonework, so it came in handy.

Today we have ordered roof ladder to hire, arranged delivery of sand, cement and lime for stonework, chased up remaining delivery for roofing materials, and swapped the machine, so a productive day :)

All we have to pay out now for the roof project is wages for help for a couple of days, son and hubbys brother, we insist on paying them, as its hard work and i wouldnt want to ask for help, particularly when they are having time off work to do it, if they wouldnt accept, its just how we are.. so £500 to put aside on payday, and hopefuly thats it..
the workshop will have cost, for roof, new door, door stonework repair/rebuild, a total of £15,500 this year, but it is a massive old building, and other than bits hubby is doing himself, wont need anything else for many years, nd hubby has his dream workshop too.:)
We both get paid friday, so i will be doing the budget, and starting getting savings rebuilt, no more projects this year, 2018 we want to be ready for round two , fencing and stable, woodstore and gates being the first project..:j
I also want to reach £6000 by xmas in overpayments..

Lots of careful planning and budgetting ahead for us!:)

This week has been really busy, both hubby and i working long shifts at work, in between organising roofing materials.
Disaster struck yesterday, the delivery of roofing flashing etc was dropped off 7am when we were both at work, hubby got home, to find they had left totally different stuff to what we ordered, and as this company is in wales, its not a quick job to sort

After feeling sick with stress calling and trying to get it sorted, we are supposed to be having the correct material dropped off tuesday, which if this doesnt happen will be a total nightmare, fingers crossed for a accurate delivery :o

We were both paid yesterday, all bill money, spends, and food money, petrol etc accounts fed this months budget.. made my usual basic £150 overpayment, plus £150 p.bonds bought for emergency fund.:)

Ive left the remaining cash in my savings, from which remaining costs for roof will come from. Any cash left, will be devided between paying mortgage, savings, and paying back what we borrowed for foofing stuff, i will do this every month until savings rebuilt, and costs paid back (aiming for 24th dec 2017 to complete this task) :)
Ah well, must get on with chores, then tea to make, and a relaxing evening, the first day of out ten days off.
I really hope in ten days we are going back to work, with a totally completed workshop roof :):)

    Ahh, the joy of DIY:rotfl:
The roofing project is coming on slower than expected, as poor hubby doing all the pointing/ stone repairs etc in preparation for the roof sheeting gong on at the weekend on his own..

Son coming saturday and sunday to help with this, and i will be helping with the sheets too, as its a 3 man job oiking them up into position.

Ive spent last few days clearing the dreaded ivy, still loads to go at, will take rest of week, and more besides to complete i think:(
Oh well, it will be worth it..

Doent look like much cash if any will be left for afurther overpayment this month, this bl**dy roof has cost a fortune!

Next month will be getting stuck in to paying back the roofing costs (balance owing will be confirmed when the project is completed at last!), alongside overpaying, i will still be aiming to reach a total of £6000 in overpayments by end of december 2017, aiming for £7000 in 2018 :)

well, after hubby, son and i spent mammoth day fixing the massive sheets to the workshop roof, and hubby has spent every day over the last week repairing and grouting stonework, dare i say it, we may have actually, at the end of today, got the new roof on the workshop!!:j

Today hubby, son and hubbys brother and friend are going all out to get the flashing, and last bit of major stone repair/last 4 roof sheets on:)

There is still plenty of pointing left generally to do, but if they get what they plan done today, anything left hubby and i can manage, no more paying out for machine hire/tool hire/labor (on this project anyway)

We are skint, and we owe a total of £8800 back to savings to cover the extra costs. The workshop overal cost us to reroof, get door lintle replaced, widen and repair access,nw roller shutter door, a total of £15,500  but i dare say that would have been double if we had paid a company to do all the work involved, so it is still a bargain..

We have worked so hard, im aching, and covered in midge bites, but it has been worth it to have a lovely sound workshop, that was hubbys dream:)
The mortgage has gone out,d/d £1208.83, monthly interest was £425.35, leaving the balance at £:)233,366.52
Made overpayment of £66.52, to round the new balance as of today to £233,300:T

SO, my challenge for the next 4 months is to pay back the £8,800, and carry on making overpayments, to reach my 2017 target of £6000 made to date by dec 31st , mmm at this stage im scared, dont know if we can do it, hey-ho, here goes!

Well, we can relax, the roof is completed, and boy am i glad, as its rained nearly every day since , if we hadnt got it completed when we did it would have been a costly delay..

Now, we can concentrate on rebuilding savings in preparation of spring 2018s project, stable, stockfencing, gates and stonewalling :)

Pay day for hubby and I next week, and boy are we ready for it!:rotfl:
Its been a tough month, our laptop decided to go capput last week, so we had to replace it, only got a cheap ideapad, that's all we need, but £159 to find that wasn't expected

Its our wedding anniversary next week, 4 years on the 27th, how time flys, that's where I started this diary, the weeks leading up to our wedding.. its also hubbys birthday on the 26th, I bought him a small gift, and we have bought small joint gifts , and plan a pamper day on our anniversary, we have booked next week off work to spend quality time together, and get a few little jobs done of course!:T

The grocery budget has done well this month, the savings from that, and other bits and bobs helped a little towards paying for the new laptop. Unfortunately no mortgage payments since the start of this month, but I'm sitting down with paper and pen tomorrow to plan payday budget, we need to pay back £8,627 for roof costs, I so want to get this sorted, whilst still overpaying, so that's the next few months challenge..

I love a challenge, I want to get project stable started in spring, roof costs need paying first, so head down and get those pennys working hard for us!!:j

Well, hubby and I have begun our last full week off until xmas hoiliday staycation, and I cant imagine anyware id rather be than here in our lovely home, working together on our land and projects :)

We celebrate hubbys b.day on Tuesday, and 4 years of marriage on Wednesday :T

I did aldi shop, meal planned, and enough meals for at least 14 days

Money will be tight for the next few months while we pay back roof money, and then begin saving for next project to start in spring 2018..

I intend being as frugal as possible, while enjoying our time together and eating well..

I plan to continue mortgage overpayments, just on a lesser scale until we are sorted, so lots of mini challenges ahead.:)

Im considering trying the stay sober on October challenge, but don't know if that is achievable, I love my one or two g&ts at the weekend.. I will think about it though :rotfl:

Payday Monday for me, Thursday for hubby, it will be a matter of bills paid, and rest divided between mortgage, p.bonds and repay roof fund..
